I was hoping we could get warwitch an alpha key. It would be very helpful for the community and competitive scene for him to start learning the ins and outs of this game. He is very excited for Dirty Bomb and really wants to shoutcast this game. warchest name= warwitchTV. Email is: gdavid72@cox.net
shoutcaster
Watched his coverage on Sunday(?) of the RTCW matches, nice and laid back, no DJ voice. I think getting community and social media people into the game early is going to be crucial to building the hype on the game as well as ensuring there are features there that will sell it to others.
Definitely a +1 for WarWitch, awesome shoutcaster… throw in Sabo for good measure as well.
If you make a thread for every player you want invited this forum will be a mess.
Use the existing invite thread: http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/33174-Suggest-People-to-Invite!
Not sure why its in the comp sub forum either.
Because shoutcasting is done primarily for comp games and it’s to allow the shoutcasters to test the potential for streaming matches… I thought that would be obvious to a clan player.
The thread has very little to do with shout casting…its just “please invite a player who shout casts”…doesn’t make sense to specifically go out of sd’s way to invite casters in such an early stage of the game. The game core gameplay isn’t even finished never mind thinking about casting.
Just came across to me as a “please invite…” Thread. If it was about shout casting it would be about inviting shout casters in general and how the game should be shaped to make it caster friendly…in which case it should be in the pre-existing thread for that anyway. http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/33759-The-competitive-spectator-overlay-amp-features
Just thought it would help out the community and competitive scene to get a guy like warwitch involved early. I understand the game is still a ways off, but why not let him start learning it now? Maybe if warwitch was in the alpha he could post in that pre-existing thread and provide some valuable information.
Yes I understand. I was just saying that there is already a thread that SD made specifically for recommending people to the alpha.

I agree that valdez didn’t really ‘sell it’ in the correct way, but I could still see where he was coming from without it needing it spelled out… and yes he did word it in a way that would belong in the invite thread, but I agree with him that if SD want to gear it towards comp play then it’d be nice to get those involved from all areas of competition and not just the players. Ok we get it, no need to carry this on any further.
Any way, to try and make a topic out of it. SC’s can tell SD what’s needed to make it more exciting from a viewers POV, what’s needed as a caster to do their job properly and what would make someone sit down and watch 4hrs of gameplay just like I did on sunday with the RtCW 1 day cup.
I’m sure we’ll do some kind of showmatch at some point, but I for one would really like to ensure game balance in 5v5 is much better before we do that and that we have our spectator features more advanced than they are now. If we’re going to show folks the eSports side of DB we want to show it looking awesome!
+1 for WarWitch. He’s a huge name in the shoutcasting industry and has been for years. He was one of the first guys doing it and his loyalty towards the very roots of Splash Damage with RTCW is a huge boost IMO to credibility of this game with main stream competition. People will play what he casts because hes only casted games that are good complete and well rounded games.
+1 He has casted Quakecon, CPL, Painkiller World Tour consisting of multiple FPS games from Tribes, RTCW, Halo, CS, Painkiller, list goes on. He’s not really “a player that shoutcasts” - he is an Axis goat
Short answer: Unsure. I cannot speak for him even though I know him well. He is passionate about PC FPS games and specifically shoutcasting them to the masses. Currently his TwitchTV following is a few hundred consistent followers of the RTCW/ET franchises and he has what I would consider one of the best shows on Twitch - even though the game being broadcasted is over 11 years old he brings a level of professionalism which is why he has such a following after all these years.
What I can say for him is that he is excited about DirtyBomb and wants to make PC FPS games more popular in the E-Sports, specifically regarding LAN events and broadcasting through media such as TwitchTV.
