Should voting to shuffle be disabled in the closing minutes of a game?

(doxjq) #1

Am I the only one who gets particularly annoyed after someone on the losing team votes to shuffle the teams right before the end of a 30 minute stopwatch game? Seems to happen so often.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not against shuffles or balancing teams at all, but I think there should be a cut off point. Being able to call vote shuffle in the final 1-2% of a game seems a little tedious. So often the vote passes too as the entire losing team votes yes (as they have nothing to lose) and the newer people on the leading team have no idea what’s going on so just seem to push F1 any way.

(SaulWolfden) #2

Yes, if there is like 2 minutes or less left in a match (or it’s the last two rounds of Execution), it should be disabled.

(BerylRdm) #3

Yes. But I’d also limit this vote to one cast per player. Very often one player spams this through whole game, annoying everyone around. If he had only one chance, he would think twice before calling shuffle vote.

(Szakalot) #4

It should but only for last obj!

2min till map end on 1st obj could very well be not even halfway through the map (esp. on buildup objectives like bridge, or dome)

But if its 2min till map end on last obj, then absolutely - no shuffle possible.

Frankly, Im missing restart-map from SW games that was removed for some bizarre reason

Why would you have that vote pass? People can’t even vote for balanced teams if one site is spawn trapped.

(MarsRover) #6

In Stopwatch - voting should be allowed in first half and first minute of second half (to allow balancing teams when people leave at halftime).

In Objective - no voting on last stage. Previous stages - voting allowed until clock reaches 3:00.

In Execution - I don’t care, I only jump into one “match ending soon” server to get my 500 credits.

Personally I was thinking 60-70% is a fair cut off point as well @MarsRover, especially in Stopwatch. 60-70% seems to be where the panic mode kicks in for the losing team, and even if the game isn’t stacked that is when you’re most likely going to see someone trying to shuffle vote solely because they just don’t want to lose.

@stayfreshshoe @RazielWarmonic @Amerika @Faraleth always love your guys input aswell

It passess quite often. Way too often and it’s pretty much impossible to play SW without shuffle spam.

Guy in the chat just summed it up. He played well and 4 minutes before the end was punished for doing good. Can’t remember how many times it happened to me.

Disabling shuffle after the first minute, during 2nd half is great idea.

I see a vote to shuffle at the end of a game during almost every match. I am all for not allowing a vote if there is 2 minutes or less left for OBJ and SW…not sure about Execution. Some people do it because they hate to lose and they’d rather roll the dice to see if they could win, some due it due to being salty and “unbalanced team” that are unbalanced in their eyes because they are losing, some do it to be trolls. There are a lot of reasons why people do it and none of them are positive.

Also, those types of vote calls (along with the spammy ones) train people to either ignore vote calls or to instantly react with an F2. I know because I’ve sometimes done this myself and I’d wager many out there have too.

I have the feeling people shuffle games you’re in because of you. They see you as the unbalanced factor and waht to have you on their team or get in the team you was in, well, since, you’re an insanely good player.

(watsyurdeal) #11

The only shuffle that should occur is if the teams are uneven. If it’s 8v6, 7v5, 6v4, etc.

The sorting into teams should be perfected to allow parties, as well as matching people based on their elo, experience, and time played. The ELO should be based on their overall performance not just the last x rounds.

Then, to top it off, I think we need a duo squad system.

This way you have the mercs you want for offense and defense set and ready to go. So say you have Skyhammer, Vasilli, and Sawbonez on your squad for CDA, and for Jackal you have Bushwhacka, Sawbonez, and Fragger.

Welp, you get Sawbonez either way, but you only have Fragger and Bush on Offense, you can not use them for Defense, and nice versa.

I think these will solve the vast majority of problems, the rest is up to the players.

(Ballto) #12

always press f2 on vote shuffles.

always, the single exception being numerically unbalanced teams (4v7, for example)

(Mc1412013) #13

Yes and it should be and also limited to once per game so the same person can’t spam the vote.

I think the votes are because the person llthinks the will get moved to the winning team.

Also do passing game votes count as a death since u insta gibbs to another team

(doxjq) #14

That’s exactly why they do it lol. It’s frustrating. What is even worse is when the teams aren’t stacked and it’s a close game but as soon as someone realises they are going to lose they callvote.

For instance the other day we played a Stopwatch game on Underground. We attacked first, and we only managed to get the first objective done because the defenders were all really strong slayers. When we were on defense we held our own pretty well too, but there was one guy on their team complaining the whole time about how slow the game was going, and then with about 1 minute and 30 seconds remaining in the second half when he realised he wasn’t going to win he callvotes shuffle, somehow it passes, he gets put on the winning team and I get put on the losing team.

The loss isn’t even really what bugs me. What does bug me is when the guy who called the vote then tells everyone who complained about the shuffle to “shut the hell up just play” and then proceeds to say “gg” at the end.

(AlphaUT) #15

Can someone tell me again how many votes that are needed to pass a shuffle?

(BerylRdm) #16

50% + 1, I think.

BTW - AlphaUT, you were this Phantom the other guy whined about in Underground today?

(Mc1412013) #17

Think it depends on the amount of people

(doxjq) #18

Bump.

Since you guys added 500 bonus XP for the winning team, this crap has became even more frequent. It’s really starting to get old quick.

(Amerika) #19

Most likely, with the upcoming queue system, voting for a shuffle will go away as it would not make sense. So I doubt it will get removed until then.

The other night I was in a fairly even game and some guy who thought he was going to lose called a vote to shuffle and somehow it passed. I called him out on it (apparently he didn’t know you could see who called the vote in console) and he started being a huge jerk about it. Then, with about a minute left, somebody on his team called a vote to kick him and it passed.

I did not mind losing that game

(doxjq) #20

I hope it is removed in that update, because it won’t stop people shuffling if the game isn’t going their way from the beginning. If you repair the EV uninterrupted for instance on Chapel you can almost guarantee there will always be a callvote shuffle.

What makes it more annoying is it usually goes like this:

Player 1 callvote shuffle these teams are crap f1 pls
Player 1 omg ffs vote yes this is so bad
Player 1 vote or i’ll leave this is impossible
Player 1 callvotes again but fails
Player 1 you guys are dickheads and sore losers
Player 1 callvotes again 1 minute before the end of the second half and it passes
Player 2 You’re an idiot
Player 1 hahaha shut up loser get rekt stop crying lmao
Player 2 Please never reproduce
whole winning team player 2 shut up you’re just mad you couldn’t win lmao
