I believe this would give great purpose to this merc (Redeye) as it would make him a beast counter sniper and give the Grandeur that small edge it needs to get its foot in the door into being incredibly viable. I feel that the Grandeur should reward those hard to get double headshots and that this change would not greatly make any other class unviable. Low health in this case means 20 health or less. So please, can we get this poll going to see who would be for this change? If you answer no, please leave a reason why this should not happen.
Thanks,
GregEye.
Should the Grandeur get a low health gib?
It’s definitely underpowered at the moment and a low health gib wouldn’t make it overpowered at all. If anything, giving the Grandeur the ability to insta-gib from up to 40 health probably wouldn’t be a bad thing, since it would a) make the Grandeur much more viable and b) make Redeye more viable too.
just remove all instagibs except sniper rifles (low hp headshot gib)
Grandeur needs ironsights touched, and the weapon would be fine
The amount of damage it would need to do to be able to gib is at least over 100 on headshot, which would be overpowered for this gun, so no.
The way instagib works now the Grandeur doesn’t do enough damage. The only reason that the MoA and Felix can instagib is because they do over 100 damage on a headshot (150 and 158). Furthermore while the Grandeur might be classed as a Sniper Rifle it’s falls between the PDP and the Dreiss which means it has power, rate of fire, and is accurate while hip firing. It’s not a long range weapon, it’s a mid range marksman rifle.
I really do detest all of the answers that are simply fix the ironsights and you will fix the gun. It is not that simple and I wish people would stop boiling it down to just this one problem. Personally I think the ironsights are fine and that both the Driess and the Pdp are better weapons with far more potential and a clear cut place in their current states. The driess is a beastly gun at the moment as it has been enjoying consistent buffs for a series of updates. The Pdp is a very good sniper rifle boasting little recoil, a scope and higher damage than the Grandeur, with gibs coming easily and headshots feeling powerful. Whereas the Grandeur is an underwhelming hybrid of the two, with less EFFECTIVE RoF, because what you see is not what you get, and a hipfire that is not as accurate as it should be when compared to other guns. You have no real reason to take it over the other two guns other than challenging yourself. However, if this gib was to be implemented, all of these things would work brilliantly together to bring this gun into being viable. I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT INCREASING THE DAMAGE OF THIS GUN. I am talking about adding a gib to players on 20 health or less. This has been around before, where any shot to the head would gob and that is not what I am saying. I am certain that splash damage could implement a system wherein it would only gib if it was a headshot from 20 health or less. If this became a thing then two headshots in quick succession would gib Vasili, Proxy, Kira and Phoenix, massively increasing the potential of the gun but in the same stroke utilizing all of the aforementioned downsides in order to make it balanced. This would make Grandeur Redeye a great mid range merc rather than a waste of space that he currently is. (Don’t get me wrong, I love the character, but I can see that currently he is in need of some serious love, as at the moment you are better off even taking a Pdp or a Driess Redeye over Grandeur Redeye.)
The community needs to stop focusing on the ironsights and take a look at the bigger picture, which is the simple fact that this gun is straight up outshined by his other weapons. I believe that this mechanic could greatly rebalance the Grandeur and make it a truly viable weapon for Redeye.
I value the Grandeur as is. Even if I hate the ironsight I like the gun, I just wish there were better loadouts for it (which is to say I want the G41’s weapons but the G75’s perks). And considering how fast I can get off three accurate shots while ADS it would unbalance the weapon.
Three accurate headshots? Or only bodyshots? Not to mention, few mercs would be affected by this greatly, not to mention that far larger gibs exist in the form of the Bolt action snipers and you can easily go so far as to say that they are underpowered, what with the Sparks metagame taking over. There are so few scenarios that this actually happens in for this to be unbalanced, and its all very nice if you think its in a nice spot, but when compared to the other weapons that Redeye can get and the spots that they are in, it isn’t in a nice spot.
If I can actually line it up correctly for a headshot they’re headshots.
And the few times that that does happen you should be rewarded far more than what you currently are. Currently you may as well be using a Driess for two headshots against a sniper, as they would do 52 damage each shot and kill in two shots, the same amount of shots as the Grandeur. And yet the Grandeur is the counter snipers signature weapon that is outclassed by one of his alternate weapons. There is no way that a gib from 20 health and below would unbalance Redeye and his Grandeur, considering how underwhelming he is now.
grandeur is already better than dreiss, hipfire grandeur is redeyes best close combat weapon, fixing the ironsight would make it usable at long-midrange where grandeur sucks atm.
rather than look for a bigger picture, id rather see the picture i already have, trolol

Think the problem here is they’re looking for big changes rather than try small changes first. It’s kind of like those people who want to change the way certain Mercs work so much that they’re completely different Mercs rather than think of small changes.
ironSight changr is pretty small, and probably the first thing thats gonna happen
I really do not see a point in increasing the gib when it already does plenty of damage from the get go, two headshots will kill a Skyhammer, and another gibs him. The only mercs who do not gib from a single headshot are those with more 150 health. Do the math…
80*2 = 160 damage, 40 damage bleeds into gib on a Skyhammer, gib health is 100, so the next headshot will gib.
Any merc with less health will suffer the same fate.
How on earth is the Grandeur better at close range than the Driess? The driess is capable of a much high fire rate whilst remaining accurate and is far more forgiving for missed shots at close than the Grandeur. Not to mention it has a higher mag size and is still capable of dropping mercs like mad with a headshot added into the mix. Anyone in their right mind would take a Driess over a grandeur at close range, doing any different is just illogical.
Next up, we aren’t talking about any changes that would affect a Skyhammer in any noticable way, as the first headshot would not put him on or below 20 health from full health, meaning that the follow up headshot would merely down him and leave him to be revived. We are talking about mercs with heath between 90 and 100, which are Proxy, Kira, Vasili and Phoenix. This are the only mercs affected by the double headshot gib and the idea of Redeye being able to stamp these guys out a little better is only a good thing, as any Redeye with consistent enough aim to land two headshots on these fast mercs with a Grandeur deserves more recognition than they are currently getting.
This would not change the overall picture of how Redeye works because the fundamentals of the Grandeur are remaining the same. It will still be a high skill weapon, and it will still retain its risk of use. However, this risk would actually have some reward if this was brought into effect, as currently it doesn’t.
If you headshot a vassili twice, one follow up shot anywhere will gib. That is your reward – once you get the kill, you don’t need two body shots or a headshot to gib if you landed the second headshot originally. Instagibs were changed to follow simple rules, and I don’t think that the grandeur needs to be special cased.
Reward? That’s no reward because in a sniper fight typically the body will fall behind cover. And if you want the Grandeur to be anything more than average and underwhelming, then it does need to be a special case.
