Should the game auto kick AFK players?

(torsoreaper) #1

Are you sick of nobody knowing how to vote out AFK people? Are you sick of people accidentally pressing F2 to pick a merc and voting no? Are you wondering why someone should be allowed to just login, go afk, and get their free 500 credits for the day while ruining a match?

These are all valid questions without a good answer as far as I can tell so I am posting this poll. We can all discuss various levels for what the time-out limit should be, but if you think we shouldn’t auto kick afk people, please explain because I just absolutely cannot think of a reason to suffer AFKers.

5 minutes should be enough.

(fubar) #3

It already does.

(Occult) #4

its supposed to but a lil move of the mouse stops that

(Jostabeere) #5

This.

don’t make a biased poll. “I like playing down a man because” other than that. Yes kick afk

(Xan) #7

it already does x3

(torsoreaper) #8

It is not a biased poll because the statement is a fact. AFK means you ARE down a man, this is a fact. I inserted the _____ because I am trying to encourage someone who votes no (you) to explain WHY you don’t want to kick AFK’ers.

If it does the timer must be longer than it takes to lose a match because I have never seen it done. Today I played dome and we had someone be AFK the entire time until we lost the first stage. Failed 2 vote kicks and the guy never even respawned in. He just stayed dead the entire time.

It already kicks for afk. If somebody doesn’t get booted it either means they weren’t afk and were keeping their session active by moving their mouse/character or they were using an auto-clicker/move script that does it for them (somewhat common due to people wanting the trinkets and the crazy amount of time required to get them).

the annoying thing is many people have missions they dont enjoy so what they do just sit afk or almost no action then do nothing. vote off they vote no just contribute nothing.

voting should be majority and they gone.

(wolvie) #11

It actually a biased poll. To make it unbiased the choices should be 1. Yes, kick AFKs 2. No, don’t kick AFKs

C

An autokick that cant be circumvented by a simple autoclick macro.

(Aazhyd) #13

It autokicks already, except in Execution. That’s probably because the rounds are shorter than the autokick timer.

(Sorotia) #14

5 minutes seems a little high…that is more than enough time to affect a game…I would say 2-3 minutes would be better.

(Faraleth) #15

Um… It actually already kicks AFK’s. Currently I believe the time is 90 seconds (possibly 120 seconds?) and you get a warning telling you to move prior to being kicked.

(wiski) #16

I think you should have to do more than just move. I have spectated plenty of people just sitting in spawn making slight twitching motions and doing nothing, or just completely running away from everyone and hiding in a corner during the game.

(MarsRover) #17

5 minutes? I don’t know about comp etc, but pubs are supposed to be drop-in-drop-out. If someone is a dick by going afk instead of leaving the game then he should be autokicked ASAP. 30 seconds and you’re out.

(Jaso) #18

what about sending you spectator like good old ET

(Amerika) #19

That currently takes up a server player slot. SD mentioned they are looking into making specs not take up a slot on the server.

As many people have already stated, the game already auto kicks. However I have observed an issue where an unspawned player will NOT get AFK kicked. (not sure if it is always the case, or just sometimes)

If you go AFK, then die, you might not get AFK kicked.
If you go AFK and sit idle in base however without anyone killing you, you will be AFK kicked.

I work from home and sometimes I need to get the door or the phone at any given time, this means I’m often AFK kicked by the time I get back if the interaction with the custom is not quick enough. However, sometimes I’ll leave for half an hour, come back and find myself in a game on a completely new map by then and wonder how and why was I not kicked during that time. (no mouse movers, etc running)

It is probably good to mention that the last time this happened (today) it was on an Objective map, so this isn’t exclusive to Execution mode.

I feel horrible when this happens as I know I’ve caused my team to be 1 man down the entire time I was away.
