Should Phantom be the only one able to use the katana since he was the one debuted with it?

See, I’m very mixed on this subject. If it’s another stealth-based class to be released at a later date, or even Red Eye, but Red Eye looks like he’s even getting a special machete/cutlass type melee weapon, why distribute the katana, and just make each character have something special, y’know?

Unless it was another stealth-based class like Phantom, I’d like to see it stay on him, if possible.

So, you’re saying it makes sense for Rhino to have a katana? Yep, because Rhino would totally be viable to use the katana. If certain mercs were made to be able to use the katana properly, I’d have no problem with it.

I’m assuming you didn’t see the 3rd option to vote off of.

Well obviously not all mercs would use it. Where was that posed? Nowhere. But if mercs can run around with a cricket bat, they can run around with a katana.

In your original reply, “Who was the first merc to use a gun, no one else should get to use one” is the same way of saying, since every merc uses a gun, that in retrospect, since Phantom uses the katana, every merc should use the katana.

“Challenge”, jeeze, I’m assuming you’re from /r/eddit, the way you’re acting. And sheesh, even not all reddit people are like this, you’re like the crossbreed of a youtube commenter and the bad part of /r/eddit all rolled into one person.

Even the company Homer Simpson works for wouldn’t want to use the toxic waste you’re putting out.

Further points:

  1. loonyTop never mentioned “all” anywhere. I don’t necessarily agree with him/her but don’t keep quoting the same passage and then pretending it includes a word it does not. Not everything is either exclusive or universal. Some things are neither. For example, not all mercs can use a Hochfir, but that doesn’t mean that it’s limited to one merc, does it?

  2. Insulting Reddit, youtube and their users (as a total non-sequitur, incidentally) does not make you look smart, neither does it add weight to your argument. That sort of factionalism is, ironically, exactly the sort of thing you see on Reddit. Good job on being better than the people you denigrate.

I comment on youtube myself, I stated that the way this person has been constantly throwing around insults, is about as bad as the people that lurk around in those places, the bad apples that make obscene comments. Not sure if you’ve followed the other posts this guy/girl has been in, but, I’m not the only one who’s said they’re salty.

But, yes. I got off track since the person aforementioned came into this post calling me stupid. As, that’s a wonderful way to start off a dicussion. But, then again, they have been doing nothing but slandering Phantom in every single Phantom post out there.

But, in the end. I got what I wanted. Votes on what people thought.

As I’ve suggested in posts before, Phantom was debuted to only have a handgun and the katana. Go back to that, y’know? Make him centered on getting up close and personal like he does. I could deal with having the Smith and Wesson based magnum with the katana for my loadout, as long as they go back to some of the older things with Phantom. IE; Cloak cooldown, visibility, and of course the melee issue.

I think anything that is not tied to an ability is fair game. The katana is just another melee option, what makes Phantom who he is (like all mercs) is his ability. I’m sure other mercs will debute with other guns or melee weapons which will be shared across the newer mercs (or perhaps give more options (add/replace) to older mercs).
