Should I buy Nader or Rhino?

(BushDweller) #1

I am torn between the two, I want a merc who is the most fun/useful

Someone please share their opinion on which merc to get, and why. I like to play defense a lot, but I would also like to be able to push up

Comes down to “How do you play?” At the end of the day their strength is only as strong as the weakest players’ playing skill that contributes to the team’s objective. This game is a very good “can of 15 minute whoop-S”. Spending $25 on the game is not bad and I’ll support the game for bigger content.

The team dictates how I play. It’s too bad my choice of mercs available is limited to the pre-selected trio (default is Forward Assault, Defensive Gunner, Medical Support; other configurations are Long Range, Medium Range, CQB; Objective Specialist, Defensive Gunner, Medical Specialist; I also throw in a TeaBagger every now and then)

Nader and Rhino can both defend and also be the one to lead/push up. But Rhino can’t do quite a lot of damage from long range distance and Nader has a crotzni and grenade launcher which do high amounts of damage.

I’d say go for Nader but if you want to soak up damage like protecting a person while they fix the EV or plant C4, Rhino can do that.

Rhino needs a pocket Aura

(cornJester) #6

Sexy people play Fletcher.

(vaguePop) #7

Rhino (aura is free that means its easy to get a pocket) unless youre a loner

Rhino is pretty much the worst merc in the game imo. The only way he’s useful is camping in specific spots in the game with an Aura station, which really isn’t a fun limitation.

thats a tough pick as those are two very different characters. Nader is much more forgiving for getting yourself caught in a bad situation whereas if rhino gets caught out in the open he is pretty much the only one going to die. He has only one strong point and thats cqc so you just have to remember that when youre playing him.

Id pick rhino over nader any day though because i love playing rhino. Just stick to the real cqc areas on a map and youll do well every game.

The comments here sum it up pretty well. Rhino isn’t for everyone - he’s the only merc I don’t have, and have no interest in buying. It really comes down to your playstyle. If you can handle standing still or moving slowly, maybe Rhino will work for you. For me, the game is just too fast to not be always moving. …like a shark. On land. With a gun. :dizzy:

Listen to that guy !

(kittenishBlender) #12

Not sure if she’s the most useful (among all the assault mercs class) but so far nader is one of the funniest merc to use !

Definitely Nader. As others have said, Rhino is pretty boring and limited. However, if you are a despicable camper, you can do well at certain points of each map while on defense. Rhino being useful on offense is pretty rare. They should give him another ability that would help him on offense. PixelTwitches idea of a Rhino charge is interesting.

Nader on the other hand, is almost always useful…though slightly less so on open areas of maps.

Let’s start with Rhino.

First of all, he’s got an ability.
Another (main) weapon, the minigun.
A very powerful weapon but because of the high spray you won’t hit a thing at distance.
His actual main is a shotgun and shotguns aren’t made for distance either.
His biggest threat is Vassili but grenades and such can be deadly too.

So open combat is not his area.

As Ghosthree3 pointed out, his power mostly reveals when camping with an aura station.
The reason for that is his slowness.
He is like a tree, not moving at all.
So if you catch someone with Rhino that person is most likely screwed up.
However, the minigun can overheat.
Caution is important when using it.

Now let’s talk about Nader.

Indeed, Nader is a very fun merc.
She has access to the crotzni, a powerful gun.
Also, she’s able to fire five grenades from her grenade launcher.
You can fire them all at once but then need to wait until they reload.
Once you lost a fight and the enemy runs to you triumphantly, press F to use martyrdom.
It’s so fun to see them all die, revenge! :stuck_out_tongue:

If you want to see action and kill people with your nades, pick Nader.
If you just camp at corners (what I don’t think) pick Rhino.

thank you for taking the time to present your opinions in the form of a Sonnet

(XavienX) #16

Nader is more mobile and can do some crowd control at a distance so I prefer her over Rhino.

(crooKk) #17

Nader is most fun class to play

(BushDweller) #18

Okay guys I got Nader, and I am having a blast with her, thank you for the advice!

(irishrOy) #19

Be careful, otherwise we got thousands of Fletchers running around, having fun and becoming “OP”.

Wait, on the second thought that actually is pretty cool.

Offensive Gunmen: fletcha and fletcha.
Defense: fletcha and fletcha
Engy and Objectives: Fletcha and fletcha
Medic: fletcha

Rhino, despite being fairly terrible (and I am not sure I ever want him to be good), has been pretty fun sometimes. Sure, he can feel pretty weak on a lot of parts of some maps and in quite a few situations but every once in a while you do something that is just hilarious.

Nader is the better choice overall. She’s solid all around if you remember that her grenade launcher is NOT her primary kill option but instead a great chip/herding option to then mow people down with the Crotzni. Then there is always the hilarity of people forgetting about martyrdom.
