Shotguns are ridiculous!

Way over powered and seemingly over used. Very similar to what happened in COD4MW. grenade launcher/shotgun usage. Hopefully some competitive mod will do away with them!

The ROF of the shotgun is way too high aswell with the current amount of damage.

I think the shotgun was good balanced the last time it was in. Now it’s obviously too strong.

I don’t know, you guys seem to want assault rifles to do more damage up close and at range, shotgun vs anything at range = death, if they catch you in a v-close up environment why wouldn’t a shotgun be more effective, same as a sniper at distance…

No shotgun attributes have changed since it was last in the rotation. Obviously other things have (map layouts, health regen, mines, less spread on other guns etc) but the weapon itself is the same as before.

I demand SD fix this immediately.

The shotgun is fun, but yeah I agree it does need some damage adjustments.

Shotguns should be 1-hit-kill to the head (only), 2 to the body (not sure if this is the case already, don’t think so) and should be rubbish at range, i.e. close quarters only.

I love the fact the game has a weapon that almost entirely relies on twitch aiming skills, something different for those who have those skills (which isn’t me if last night is anything to go by). I’d hate to see it nerfed out of the game, especially if only to satisfy the ego of the self-proclaimed “leet” players who seem to think they can dictate to everyone else what weapon you’re allowed to kill them with.

Shotgun is hardly a twitch aim weapon (sniper is close to that decription). The spread and damage of the weapon at present means it is overpowered at close quaters and also at mid range. No one is dictating anything to anyone just pointing out that it is unbalanced from my pov.

If i had my way it would be removed completely as see it as a wasted weapon but thats cause i come from RTCW and prefer the game to be based on aim rather than a random spray at close range (skill based)

I think the current effective range of the pellets is a bit on the high side. Very close range I don’t mind dying to a 2 body shotgun blasts or 1 headshot blast. I’m seeing way too many 1 shot kills with it though which is worrying.

Yeah i find the shotgun isn’t too far away from where it should be realistically, imo. Just the 1 shot body shots from close range even against soldiers is a little too much, but i like having the shotgun as an alternate way to play the game in public (rather than removing it), it varies the type of aiming required which can sometimes get repetitive and keeps thing’s fun when you don’t feel like an aim intensive round.

Edit: In regards to being overused - just let it settle for a few days and people will spread out class wise again, you can’t judge the popularity a few days after an entirely new class has been unlocked as everyone wants to try this new content.

I would presume the comp community would just restrict which weapons can be used in each class as they always do, so hardly worthy of a mod just to rule out a particular weapon.

I don’t get it. I die in one shot, yet when I shoot my shot lands 0.5 seconds ago where the player was - I’m not good enough to lead that much. If I do hit it never kills in one shot either. Please bring back turret man, that gun + the soldier MG are the only two guns I can use. /ragequit til next patch :).

Here I agree again, problem in game is usually because player abuse, well that highlight broken features quickly I guess…

Oh, and no headshot damage on a random cone of fire type of weapon would help reduce the power without too much coding

Seriously!? That’s bloody hilarious. It’s amazing how open we are to suggestion. Suddenly everyone thinks it’s some kind of super-weapon and we start acting like it.

But yeah, not headshot damage.

In ETQW i proposed to let the damage accumulate exponentially with each pellet hit per shot. That would would make the weapon a lot less random and very dependant on skill.
