Shotguns need nerf, now.

I am going to say plain and simple, SHOTGUNs need to be nerfed. They are way to overpowered at medium range being able to spam 1 shot head shots. I have talked and heared many upon many of complaints that the shotguns need another nerf. It’s getting so bad 9/10 players in the game are using shotguns because they do way to much damage, all the streamers are complaining about it and my buddy who was going to do a 24 hour stream, he is 5 hours in and about to give up on game solo on shotgun proxy spam combo.

They were already nerfed with that update. They were given more spread to reduce their effectiveness at longer ranges.

People are running with shotguns because 2/4 mercs available at lvl 1 have them… Not to mention that one is an engineer and other a medic, two most useful classes.

Really? I play Proxy a lot and one issue I have is the random damage the shotguns sometimes have. If anything sometimes those thing are too weak and sometimes they wreck but not to the point of OP.

at med to longer range ive noticed shotgun wielders are now more cautious, backing off to take cover etc and not pushing in. meet one up close and personal tho and they are still really painful but then i guess thats what they are for.

they are nerfed already. maybe just play for some more time to see how they perform instead of even more nerfing. they have a purpose.

Yep, the actual nerf is sufficient imho, proxy is no more OP (crying :stuck_out_tongue: )

But agree with APRenpsy, this “random damage” thing is very strange, I experienced it last night… is it a feature or a bug ?

Yes, it nerfed aura and proxy quite a good bit. But it made them very irregular more than anything else. OHK on medium seems still possible but less often. If you fire two exact same shot you can still do 90+ dmg and the other and you will do less than 70. uuugh

someone in game was saying one shotgun is a pellet style scatter gun and thats ok now but the other uses a slug and still has sniper accuracy from long range so isnt cool

can someone confirm?

Its still a stupid gun IMO. All the rifles in this game takes some aiming but the shotgun does not yet it deals MASSIVE damage close range and even medium range damage is decent.

How is it that the gun that takes least amount of skill to play does more damage than a gun u actually need to aim? Blows my mind

The shotguns need to go. They cannt get the values correct and it feels like they’ll always be broken. An issue that is right up there when it comes to game play.

What? Least amount of skill? There are like 4 slugs before you have to reload, they only deal massive damage in close-range, if anything they require more skill than assault rifles that can easly land headshots for massive damage and you dont have to worry about missing one of your 4 chances before having to reload. Also there’s a reason why proxy and aura have only 80 HP.

Wait until you see a good proxy with an SMG that can light up a Fragger pretty quickly in close quarters while having the speed to make it much harder to hit them. The only thing really bad about the shotgun when facing it is the classes that use it have crazy movement speed. They can duck out from cover, shoot, and go back which can be difficult to deal with. However, I didn’t find it too big of a deal last night.

I play Proxy often and the shotgun feels so weak. I’m really bad with shotguns, I just can’t kill anything. They actually require good reflexes and aiming compared to fully automatic weapons. Skyhammers and fraggers take an enormous amount of hits before they die, so I don’t think shotguns are overpowered, not with the default loadouts at least. And I think it’s fair since Proxy is an engineer and she needs to be escorted to the objectives, and aura is a medic.

I say they’re in a good position, https://youtube.com/watch?v=j4wlw2A803E, the whole game I’m pretty sure I didn’t get any of the one shot kills you mentioned. In fact medium range I felt like I wasn’t doing nothing. If anything the secondary weapon I’m using feels more OP.

The hmg need to go because I don’t like it :smiley:. That’s preposterous. Removing a weapon for balancing issues. There’s plenty ways of balancing weapons, especially shotguns : dmg output, spread patterns/value, “bolt cocking” speed (dunno if it’s the right term with shotguns). Balancing should be iterative. They did not go in the right direction, so they might step a bit backwards and rethink.

I’d say that adding these 10% spread on shotguns highered unconsistency to mercs who already were on top of the list for this (due to their health pool and speed mainly). But shotguns now feel like throwing potatoe mash on the enemy’s face which sometimes kill them instantly because it’s too hot.

ATM, smg with aura and proxy is a much wiser choice. Consistency, still more than viable in CQB (esp Proxy with Hochfire).

The issue I have with the shotguns is that the majority of the fights are played out at close quarters meaning players that use them have a massive advantage. When you combine that with movement speed that the light classes have it allows them to get up close much quicker and deal massive damage.

I think all the other weapons require a greater degree of skill to kill someone with and to counter the spray and pray nature of shotguns they need a rework. I don’t know if they need removing but at the moment it’s much easier to play the game using a shotgun over any other weapon.
