FOV doesn’t change the Distance…
Shotguns & Bolt-Action Snipers Are Still Ridiculously Strong

You rarely ever see an A+ Vassili hitting consistent headshots.
No, but the scumbag tier bodyshot masters are way more common.
Shotguns really aren’t that viable in this game. You literally have to hide around corners to win fights. They really only work on 2-3 maps. If you miss a shot you lost the battle pretty much. In publics everything is “OP”. Most players don’t use shotguns in competitive. They are very limited in range, most gun fights are mid-range unless you wait around a corner. Snipers got nerfed. If you hit a headshot with a sniper rifle they should go down. Rhino and Thunder dont even go down with a 1 shot headshot on a sniper rifle. I don;t see how you can nerf this any further.
I agree that this game has turned into a sniper fest now. In the past you had 1 or 2 snipers max, usually at the bottom of the scoreboard. Now it’s 3 or 4 per match, generally at the top, encouraging others to go sniper.
But I hate them in my team more than in the other team, 4 snipers in your team means that the objectives are just not gonna move.
I also find it very suspect that whenever I go spectate those instakilling snipers, they suddenly stop doing it. This combined with the amount of low-lvl snipers killing everyone, is very suspect.
As for shotguns, I won’t complain since I use Aura with one. But I must admit it initially surprised me how good those were at long range. However what also matters is who has access to shotguns. Proxy has already been nerved significantly enough, it’s not the best merc anymore. And Aura kinda needs her shotgun, she’s too useful for the team.

it does change the perception of distance
The real problem with snipers is the focus augment. It single-handedly makes all the loadouts with it best in class, and also allows very skilled snipers to dominate even when the enemy is accurate.
Focus should probably be removed from all sniper kits. Or just be straight up nerfed, as it is a very powerful augment overall.
Also, the MOA shouldn’t be able to 2 hit body rifledudes. Bodyshot spam is still very powerful.
My proposal for the bolts would be:
MOA
Body - 45 Damage
Head - 150 Damage
Felix
Body - 49 Damage
Head - 158 Damage
Players would still be rewarded for hitting headshots, but would be appropriately punished for attempting to slack off and aim for body shots.
The whole point of bodyshots is finishing off weak players. Not allowing Snipers to do that means you either gotta be god like or you are wasting a Merc slot.
big guns do big damage wherever they hit, keep moving.
bodyshots have already been nerfed enough
We’re in a world filled with bodyshot kings. A fight for another day, I suppose.
all your shots are headshots ?
mine sure aren’t, bursts to the body are more prevalent

No, of course they aren’t all headshots. Though when I hit a bodyshot, I don’t think I should be rewarded by dealing more than half of the 18/21 mercs health, as I technically missed my shot.
That’s the entire point of this thread… Bodyshots shouldn’t be the norm, headshots should be.
It’s like I’m talking to a brick wall.

It definitely isn’t close…yes, 20 feet is close
Not really…20 feet is definitely beyond little to no space

What you expect…people want it easy and casual.
People want it easy and casual indeed. Only rifles and smg’s should be worthwhile and nothing else. Lets make arguably the worst weapon class, the shotguns, even worse! God forbid you would have to think a little when you are engaging something else than a m4 fragger.
is this that discussion where it ends explaining that nerfing everything to be the same results in non diverse gameplay where people looks like playing the same merc, same gun and same abilities even tho its not?

Nah, a seemingly failed attempt at pushing for more skill based weapon balancing.

None of your proposal goes in that direction.
Again, a shotgun SHOULD two hit a fragger in the sequence you’ve shown previously IF well aimed. Yes, they’re probably too tolerant so far but in any way they should be enclosed to improved melee weapons, which is totally idiotic in my view. The last tweaks were the first step forward, but in the end, I’d like to see :
- Slightly reduced spread
- More incentive to aim for the head by raising the HS multiplier to 2x (as well as leg penalties further improved)
- Less damage per pellet, even up to 110-120 dmg on a full head hit (multiplier included, which would do 60 dmg on a full body hit)
- If necessary : fall off further improved, to compensate for the dmg damage reduction
This way shotguns would not have the erratic feel they have right now (especially on point blank), have some skills progression on them, and more importantly in my view, close the gap between them and smgs in the general usage.
