People of Wolf: ET,

We’re putting the finishing touches on the Splash Damage biography at the moment and since we’ve always strived to maintain a close connection with you, our fans, we’d love to include some of your favourite Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory moments in the thing.

If there’s a match that stands out, a Wolf: ET event you went to, or if there’s a general memory you associated with the game, post it here and we’ll try to include as many of them as possible.

There’s no minimum size, so you can be as brief or elaborate as you like!

If you don’t fancy posting it in public, you can also PM it my way.

Thanks and looking forward to your submissions!

One fav is …flying longer than ever before. On fueldump (first part), all the way from the axis constructable tower down on the roof of the house with ammo & health crates. That it was a teamkill didn’t make it less funny.

Here’s a similar “favourite” from goldrush  Love those “comet” episodes

Unlike any other game, if you wanted to play seriously you could, if you wanted to play for fun you could and if you wanted to do both on a map you could.

The team work to accomplish objectives is what I remember most about it and the fact you always had to improve your game, there was no limit as such. The fact it had specific objectives separated it from the cods and mohs and wasn’t just about killing, required thinking as well.

always a favourite game, since the day I stumbled across it to today.
The whole setup of the game is great, and getting chance to play around with maps and mods like we’ve done here I think is very unique.
And old times with teamplay, Suddenly you played like you known the guys for years, even you met them just an hour ago.
And almost everywhere nice admins on servers,
most fun moment I probably had was on veteran soldiers old server.
Tried to get out of spawn on one of etdo maps but got pwnd again and again by the same person… then I got pissed and made a jump and got up on a wall, aware that this guy standing on the other side I jumped, scoped the rifle and boom HEADSHOT. Of course I died in the fall but got out next spawning.
And this guy saying the rest of evening: LOL do it again Thunder!
that was awesome times

the double grand final of the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7 LAN on the 5th map (Frostbite) when Meez is about to submit the documents and is sniped down just in front of the tower entrance. Epic game and intense shoutcast available. Just can’t find the movies right now, but here is the GTV link already: http://www.gamestv.org/event/17054-rockit-et-vs-team-dignitas/

also pretty intense: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsgO_m2srZ0

no epic battles, but the first time I played “North Pole” with the santa hat and antlers, I couldn’t stop laughing when ever I saw those antlers and red nose, it was first time for most of us and game changed to everyone going flamethrower and shooting out of the cannon and trying to write stuff with the flames, everyone had to guess what it was, probably the most time I ever spent on that map, was hilarious. Another chuckle was coming out of bunker on “Railgun” on server that had replaced mine flags with pot leaves and seeing 4 guys with flamethrowers trying to light one

Not sure if some remember the FAG clan server. This was probably the best i have ever played on where i laughed in tears night over night over these vsay packs. But it closed down very soon due to problems i don’t know, so i switched servers.

Fighting wise i mainly was just boring. I just remember double jumping into an enemy line and realized i was about to die so i placed a quick (almost no-scope) airstrike marker with my binoculars and took a couple with me. There are so many more moments, but this is what i remember the most.

Also the playing for rating was unforgetable: mainly hunting for frags and trying to climb up splatterladder, finding two people with a flamethrower selfflaming and the other one healing him over some corner to realize they cheated the system xD …

Aqu, I remember it so vivdly. At one time FAG was the biggest server. With mighty 40 slots. What was up with that kid that kept spamming those custom vsays? And why did everybody endure it? So funny, nonetheless.

It was my first experience with No FF. I used to play on WarGamez.dk. A place where there was no admins. “Pro” players would run away screaming before they got vote-kicked. One person expressed it so well; “This is the badlands”. Everything was handled in pure badland-democracy. In the old glorious times, we used to vote-kick panzers when they became too annoying. Those were the days.

To this day I wish that Bani had called his mod “noobmod”. “Yeah, I’m mainly a noob player”.

I can remember at certain times there was the most hardcore spam ever and i also wondered how the heck is this possible. Noone can endure this xD There were always the usual suspects, at least 5 people, spamming dem vsays. It was best times … also just the darth vader model or all the other models like light sabers OMG. I always prefer this over serious bus fragging and never ending p.comp

There are too many but here is one.

Map: Fuel Dump
Team: Axis
Game Position: First spawn, top of the tower on the axis hill.
Weapon of choice: Panzer
Enemy position: Sniper in the small crack of the wall that is in front of the hut.

Gemplay: Climbed up the ladder and on top of the tower. Pulled out my binocs and saw a sniper lining up in the small crack in the wall infront of the allies hut. Swapped to panzer, and like always, line up the vertical with mouse while horizontal with side movement. Was about to cahrge the shot up, when I noticed a small bulb of light coming towards me - knowing it was a panzer I decided to do a kamikazee shot. So I jumped off the tower to the left, aimed at the small crack where the sniper was, and in mid air got sniped by him - This is the next three lines of text

  • Death_Reincarnated got killed by Mr.X’s sniper rifle.
  • Mr.X was vapourised by Death_Reincarnated’s panzerfaust.
  • OMG WTF u bs me

This was when I decided to get great at using the Panzer.

There’s just too many moments to pick one out of…think I’ve played this for too long.

Although, looking back to all the best moments, they all eventually come down to this one feature too many modern games lack - the way it supports customizing. I counted 13 mods from my ET folder and my etmain is literally full of maps, custom maps. I haven’t even been collecting!

I’ve ran like crazy from A to B (ETRun), fled zombies (Infected), been hiding (HNSmod), tossed around a ball (Domination/Powerball) and I’ve even driven (steered, maneuvered, not just transported) tanks (EastFront). Not to mention all the crazy custom maps with their script files the size of my mojo. Especially some japanese. (Japanese script files, not mojo for clarity.)

All in all, I think my best ET moment was when I downloaded the game.

Would do it again.

My good times in W:ET were on EvilBegginersXpSave server if anyone remembers this one. Good old etpub with objective view server.

I remember on rail gun, where i used to mortar on the beach as an allied soldier,i ran up the hill beside the allied spawn and made a good positioning. When i fired, i waited, not knowing where it went, and all of a sudden i get 4 kills. I was like, sure, thats a good spot, im not going to move. I fire again, 5 kills this time. I look into the chat, several people are cussing and swearing away, and i look on my map. There was a small square to the upper right of the flag in the axis starting point, where if you hit that spot, it would kill almost everyone in that spawn. Oh the days where you get kicked from the server from accidental spawn killing.

(Mateos) #17

A beach on Rail Gun? Sounds more like ET Beach :stuck_out_tongue:

(Rud3_Awak3ning) #18

I do feel slightly stupid, beach/battery is what I meant haha.

One of my favorite wolfenstein: enemy territory memories, was playing on the whosgaming server , map was hydrodam and was 32 vs 32 and no spectators, so much fun because teams were balanced and no team could easily win and the timer was set for a super long time. Wish there is an exact equal of that etpub server again.

Have played on that one for a long time with Tulsa and group  It was always fun!

Those where some days! For the record it used to be 64 slot server back in 2006. I still remember majestic spamming like crazy on the server. It was fun! The first server that I played on was {NB} or so and then FAG servers.
