You mentioned cvars in your first post. What am I supposed to think?

  • i’ve noticed that when you just rent a server you network connection is almost perfect. But after a month the servers bandwith is getting smaller. They use the bandwitdth for someone else.
    If a game is very populated, or new they give it the priority thats needed. If it’s getting old they don’t care.
    A good network will also allow 24 players with no till hardly lag @ all.

  • Cvars
    Cvars can cause lag on a server. I can’t say if thats also with this game but older games hadf cvars that could give your opponents a bit of lag. It gave you a head start with the fight.
    Even cvars can solve you lag, they did it with wolfenstein 2009. With the right config you have no lag.

  • When ppl yell “lag” they have to look at the first place at themselves. Ppl you say they have a lot of lag probally use torrents or do other stuff with their computer. They have spyware/malware - 3rd party software, and not a cheat on their machine and blame others.

Since when is giving a cvar a differnt value a cheat. Every server allows it. You have to change these settings yourself to get ppl kick or banned for that and it’s only for your server. LOL

No Prediction… WTF are you on? I bet it’s crystal meth.
Prediction, as the name says predicts makes the game actually more playable. Client Prediction shows the current amount of client side prediction to compensate for the lag which comes from the various pings that take place.

Hwow’d u like to enforce it that people playing on a server with a ping 1.5x higher? It’s not manageable, since pings always fluctuate.

don’t pretend to have enough rhetoric stkill to [try]subvert my posts/words for own use, please, you …[random sentence here]… .
cvars mentonioned by you and others[playing victim/dumb]can cause minor-affects, sure. but mainly i talk about: 1. unsufficient hardware resorces[mainly CPU horsepower]on rented ranked servers. 2. 3-rd party software, used by cheaters, which affect gaming performance on those server DRAMATICALLY[let alone fairplay aspect].
and not, NOT every. some servers get you kicked for altered clienprediction, maxprediction, turned off backup packets and even for too much FPS, for example.
sure, thats why you previous statement was untrue[aside actual setting on some ranked(!) servers, i pointed above].

The things you name again can be set with pb, you get kicked or banned for that but it’s for this server only. Matches have setting like clientprediction betweem 0 - 20 if you don’t have it, you’ll get kicked.

yoiu just being vage, just for the attention. LOL like you did in the COD and BF2 games.

Imho there should be more more restrictions for cvars on ranked servers. This will put an end to all the config cheating with sensitivity set to something other than 5, disabling of rolling and bobbing and all that crazy stuff. It’s just not fair. :mad:

On our server i have made a simple pb check for the following cvars:

pb_sv_cvar net_clientprediction IN 20 25
pb_sv_cvar net_clientmaxprediction IN 10 1500
pb_sv_cvar net_clientmaxrate IN 16000 30000

For me the situation has gone better no more problems with “unhitable” players.
If somone knows how to build in a “pingcheck” who kicks every player with a ping above 200
please let me know.

Kicking high-pingers won’t help you, the problem comes from highly variable ping.

Some comments on your restrictions (with updated values)


pb_sv_cvar net_clientprediction IN 20 50 // More reasonable - I usually need around 40 on US servers for things to run smoothly
pb_sv_cvar net_clientmaxprediction IN 1500 1500 // No reason to change this, ever
pb_sv_cvar net_clientmaxrate IN 16000 30000 // Not necessary, client obeys net_serverMaxClientRate

Also PB cvar restrictions can be got round rather easily, ask AnthonyDa on that one.
