Server Shutdown

(millerq3) #1

Hi

We run a server via Multiplay: 85.236.100.3:27733

The problem is the server is randomly shutting down.

Weve complained to Multiplay and there conclusion is :-

looking through the logs this is the server unable to connect to the master server when it’s sending stats on map change, basically the server panics and shuts itself down - clanforge then detects its shut down and restarts it. This requires Splash Damage to fix the master server and is not something we can fix our end.

Has anyone else had this problem or is it a case i need to move to a more stable server?

Sorry if ive posted in the wrong section but im at my wits end

Thanks & Happy New Year

… first of all you should note that its a QWS
… and i dont think SD is responsible for the MS

Hi

Thanks for a reply. If SD isnt responsible then i will take the problem back to Multiplay (who have a number of clan servers playing ET:QW) & duly tell them they are wrong.
Just suprised no-one else as had the same problem

Cheers anyways

What I believe he means is that it is Activision that looks after the master server list

Thanks

received a reply from Activision:-

Hi,

The Splash Damage employees generally have an orange username. I do not know who that person is who replied to you. Activision does not provide assistance with running dedicated servers.

So inconclusion until a member of Splash Developments reply then no answer can be sort after.

lol I think they are playing a game with you :stuck_out_tongue:
gamehost says go to SD, SD is not responsible for the MS we say go to Activision, Activision says it’s SD’s fault.

I just think that you have installed the server wrong, or if the problem suddenly occured that something at the gamehost has gone faulty and they might not want to say it since they guarantee 99% uptime or something?

Anyway I’d just try reinstalling you server if it’s your first server if not I’d try asking the tech team at Multiplay if they keep saying it’s somebody elses fault get a new host?

EDIT: FYI I am not a member of SplashDamage or affiliated with them in any way, just here to help people out.

Lol, I’m sure it’s part on the host, since many many servers are running fine. Also I have ran servers without the master servers, and this works absolutely fine!

millerq3,

When did you start seeing these issues?

The master and stats servers are hosted at an Activision subsidiary as far as I know. If Multiplay’s logs are accurate, it seems that the fault may lie with those servers, rather than the dedicated server itself. Let me ping some folks and see what I can find out.
