of course i agree with people here that there are still some serious issues with the server side of things such as CPU usage and the fact it keeps disconnecting the game sessions. Still, was just offering an idea to help people limp by till the issues are resolved.

If you look closer, you can see that the server is started 11:38 and successfully establishes a connection to a steam-server (68.142.91.35:27017 in my case). However it loses the connection to steam on 11:58. Looking at the line where it states, that it will auto-reconnect there should be a method for auto-reconnection implemented. BUT this method never has the chance to reconnect, the game session gets shutdown immediately afterwards (look at the timestamps - this all happens at the same second 11:58:06).

If i should be right, this would really be a nasty bug. Because everytime your server loses the connection to the Steam-Master-Server, it will shutdown the server, showing the “The connection to game session has been lost.” error in the console (and it doesn’t matter if the server is empty or not).[/QUOTE]

Hmm. Ive noticed mine only does this if people are online playing. if no one is playing it will stay up. The last 2 days I had no one on except myself for testing purposes and it had been up 28 hours. Today It was up for 6 before it finaly fell over while people were playing on it.

Exact same error code & while on aquarium.

The same mesage is displayed briefly when you force the server to change from one map to another with say “spawnserver mp/shipyard” the difference of course is that the map then loads if you use the command unlike when we are seing our servers idle like they do.

wish it was only just daily. We’re getting it at random times can be anything from 1 hour to 48 hours over all our servers

@The-Crow, Probably a custom cron job that queries the server directly to monitor it’s aliveness, then restarting if necessary

I have written a Python script that checks processes via WMI and then tries to query the server and check what is returned by serverinfo. I am using the SourceLib (http://github.com/frostschutz/SourceLib) library to query the server.

The only caveat is that when you try to query the server when it has SHUTDOWN I get a socket exception that it has denied access, that is the only test I can do to check if the server has “crashed”. I mean, this logic seems very weird and I really hope that they will make a better solution to handle this properly.

Anyway, to summarize: Check if the process is up using WMI (I compare the CommandLine property with an array of the IP, ports) and then try to query the server. If the try-statement fails with a socket error Terminate the process and start a new instance.

I will upload my full script once I have reliably tested it for a while.

well until TCAdmin updated their software i used Autoit. I’ll post the dirty Autoit A2S query code that will query one address, it can be altered to grab multiple server info from an ini file. It’s up to you how you handle tracking the PID and command line launch string of the application, i personally used an autoit script to launch the app then write a txt file in the game root dir containing the PID, then the A2S query checks for a response and if there isnt any it looks at the txt file, kills the PID then runs the command line…rinse and repeat.

It doesn’t correctly out put all the the fields however all that’s needed is to see if it can either successfully get the server name or, which i did for multiple servers, check the game type is brink.

Well looks like we don’t have a fix for this in the latest patch, both my servers dropped out on the game shutdown bug overnight and the reduction in server CPU usage is hardly noticable…It’s still way way too high…I have some Red Orchestra servers with 50 players on them that use less CPU than Brink with just 16…

Come on SD throw us a bone here!!!

These are critical issues for Admins…repeated server drop outs and very high server cpu usage…Your making the game very difficult to host and for a game designed around MP that’s not good news…
So a little help in solving these issues would be appreciated very much…

Server Admins should also be aware that if they had any custom configs or custom .bat files these have been over written by the new files, and custom settings may have been lost. (but only if you altered the standard .cfg’s that came with the game)
