Ok this is my Campaign Cfg

This is my Objective cfg

Not got a log file as not created one atm, was just playing around with the default cfg’s which don’t have logs turned on by default.

Having said that it would also appear that since the update custom cfg’s aren’t being recognised, as the si_needpass is being disregarded when I spawn the server for my campaign one, and I have to manually set it up in the console after launch.

Seems, that the steam servers are beginning to get a bit more unstable over the weekend. I experienced the shutdown-problem a few minutes ago and earlier today on my server (with the recent patch), after it ran more or less stable yesterday. But its obvious that the problem is still existent in the latest build.

It’s getting to be quite annoying now, as I have to constantly check if the server is up before I go into the game.

Any chance of a fix coming soon.

got the same disconnect problem happening randomly like others stated here sometimes the server is online for like 24h and than suddenly disconnects from steam.

We are now 5 days & 3 pages in with over a 1,000 views…

This issue is obviously effecting a lot of servers and I hope that SD will treat it as a priority fix with regards to server support…

Unfortunately as with any new game you seem to get problems but the important thing is how quickly they get sorted…
I hope we see another patch this week…

I second this, really getting annoying having to babysit the servers 24/7. If the game would actually shut down and remove the process we would at least be able to put it in a infinite loop script…

b.t.w. i also never saw an etqw server witch runs under full load more than 24h.

Another one this morning, didn’t have time to paste the log but SD should have enough data to parse through by now - or?

These errors would be alot less annoying if we could pick up that the server crashed and just restart it (see my other thread about making the client kill the process when shutting down).

Looking through ppl logs the problem (unless being caused by some random disconnect thing) seems to be caused by different things all the time (looking before the actual shutdown sequence). Not sure what logic is behind shutting the game down but maybe the server could be a little less aggressive when problems occur (such as loading enteties etc).

you could write a script to query the server via A2S query and if it gets no response over a <insert seconds here> time frame it restarts the process. Of course you’ll have to keep track somewhere the corresponding PID to server IP+Port if you run multiple servers else you could just kill the process name.

I know, and I have. The problem is that I don’t want to complicate things more than necessary. I mean, the more logic we have on top of other logic we have no control over the more things can go wrong.

  • The A2S spec and implementation seems to be a bit off, which makes things even trickier.

Basically, we should not have to do this - should already be in the software.

Personally I don’t think the community should even be considering trying to fix this as the server should work as intended plain and simple…Which it is not doing at this moment in time…

It needs fixing and very quickly…Although I suspect the delay in a server patch is more to do with them wanting to add more fixes into any future patch…

I.E. fixing to riduclous CPU usage, I have been running servers for over 10 years now and I have never come across this type of CPU usage from a game server exe in relation to how small the server player size is.
I can’t believe that this was the intended model…I feel this may have been a case of “the best we can do in time allowed”.
I hope SD release some serious server stabiility fixes and very very soon.
