Server setup

(Crytiqal) #1

Hey everyone,

I was wondering how I could best set my server up.

I have the game installed under:
G:\gameservers\wolfet\wolfet_lite\

it contains:
\etmain
\etpro
\pb
ETDED.exe

========
The download folder is placed under:
G:\webservers\xampp\htdocs\server_downloads\

which contains:
\etmain
\etpro
\fritzbot

========
The savepath is placed under:
G:\webservers\xampp\htdocs\server_data\wolfet\

it contains:
\server_comp
\server_practice
\server_propub
So for each instance of the game I have a different savepath.

Now my question would be, if I run custom maps…

I could place them all under
G:\gameservers\wolfet\wolfet_lite\etmain

But I would like to give ftp access so people could upload maps to the folder.
Would it be possible to have a seperate folder named “/maps” or something, and store them all in there? And have every server instance read from there?

I tried adding fs_basegame “maps” but when I connected, it would download those .pk3’s into the clients “/maps” folder aswell.

Is there a way to keep the base game files seperate from additional .pk3’s, but still have them readable by every instance, and with which they download to the etmain folder of the client?

Thanks in advance!

Greetings,
Crytiqal

I think that if it was possible you wont have to dl all that crappy soundmod + launch screen + whatever the ****e they put in each time you dl a map on a “clan” server.

Cant tell for sure tho…

Peace

use some kind of dropbox software, you can only put stuff in and that’s it

The thing about my server is, you CAN download extra soundmods and map skins (anyone remember the European Style skinmod for the official maps?) and place them in your etmain, but you don’t have to, and the server will allow you to have those.

Eventho it’s a pure server, and only the additional .pk3’s the server allows to be an additional .pk3

So you can connect to the server and download nothing, but if you want to expand, you can go to our website and download those additional paks and put them in place.

As for the dropbox software, that won’t help me with seperating the custom maps from the official game .pk3’s right?

I would like to keep the game install clean, and have the custom maps in a seperate folder, but all server instanced should read from that one aswell.

So it should read etmain, maps, and the mod folders.
Is there a way?

Hi Crytiqal,

it’s not possible afaik.
The UltraET mod has this function build-in but i doubt that this function is implented in other mods.

Bye,

ok, thanks anyway.

For now I’ll just copy the needed maps over into the savepath etmain folder for each instance then :frowning:
