Server Search -> Empty

(M0TiF) #1

I was able to connect and search servers yesterday,

However today, when I search for servers via Internet, all servers seem empty. I can connect to my friends via Steam etc but server searchs come out as all empty servers

What can I do to fix this issue?

Best Regards

(M0TiF) #4

and you’Re wondering why brink is dying for PC gamers?

this is why

(kilL_888) #5

apparently no one else except you is having this problem.

maybe you changed something in your system or unplugged your router, i dont know?

whatever it is, it has nothing to do with brink. its working for everyone else, since no one replied here, except me.

please feel free to contact the bethesda tech support over the bethesda forums.

M0TiF, can you confirm your NAT type?

This issue is likely to be due to settings with your network, network security or router.

I am connected via LAN/DSL.

What information do you need other than that?

do you use a router or just a modem? does your router use nat? has it an internal firewall? do you have a software firewall?

some more details on the specification and configuration.

i am using a modem, firewall is disabled - i had no problems , started to have this problem out of no where so it makes no sense.

bumppppppppppp

Possibly the same problem as M0TiF here. Since the “Weapon balance” patch I have hard times to find any servers. I didn’t change any router settings and I was able to find and connect to servers just fine, before the patch.

Sometimes when I fiddle around with the search and stop icons i am able to find some servers. Yet, when I just start the search and wait a bit, the CPU usage just jumps to 100% and only drops when I stop the search.

My wife and I experience this problem once in a while (no servers showing up on the search list) when trying to switch to a different server after playing for awhile. Restarting Brink fixes the problem.

@Jimmy: I get the problem directly after starting Brink, without playing on any server before. Restarting Brink/Steam/my computer doesn’t help and this problem startet with the last patch.

(Jimmy James) #14

Do you have a router and did you forward the necessary ports? At some point it was suggested to me that the following ports should be forwarded for Brink: 27015, 27016, & 8766

Can anyone experiencing this also confirm which country they are playing from?

(Smoochy) #16

i find that i often have to delete the min players filter, then add it back in to see servers. seems to be new with the latest patch.

im in UK, using virgin 10Mb line

I am playing from Germany and I got my game via Steam. When I try to find servers with “history” as a source the game freezes completely.

Thinking about it, something really feels odd. The few times the search actually works, I mainly get german servers. Something that is new since the patch too. I don’t know if it’s just a coincidence, or just some change I missed. Yet I really don’t want my search results prefiltered against my will by the country I life in.

@Smoochy: Fiddeling with my filter settings didn’t help.

cant you filter then sort by ping?

i tend to sort my player count and pick the one with the best ping. not much choice these days :frowning:

(Caleb) #19

@Smoochy: I can filter how I want. The results and the freezing tend to be the same. My default settings are: ping <200 and “not password protected”. Even without any filtering the search takes rediciously long.

I am redownloading the game right now. If anything got better after that, I will post.

(Caleb) #20

Redowanloaded the game and the search is still screwed. The more filters I add the longer the search takes. Roughly +2 minutes if I set the filter to “hide password protected servers”. CPU usage is still spiking.

And I still have the feeling that my results are prefiltered by the country I play in. 80-90% of the servers I find are german and empty. If something like that got added with the latest patch, please remove it, or at least give me the option to switch that kind of filter on or off. Theese kind of filters are simply ridicoulus in my opinion.
