Server Running Shrubmod Crashing

(TripMn) #1

I know of 2 other servers running the same cfg for our servers. They work fine but seem to crash about 2 or 3 times a day. I have got the server logs but I dont see any problems in the log as to why the server is crashing. I was thinking it might have something to do with the XP save. Was wondering if the xp save might be using up all the hunkmeg and crashing the server. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. If anyone would like to view the crash logs let me know and I will email them to you.

Thanks…

Yo trip. Welcome to the forum. I bet you there are going to be a million flames just for stating that you use shrub. oO(Ilove it)

(TripMn) #3

It doesnt matter… it will only show their maturity level… Shrub keeps our server popular and it also makes it fun. Isnt that what games are for?

TripMn,

You could try talking to the guys at crew-nexus (http://www.crew-nexus.net/news.php) - they run a few shrub servers which are usually very stable. The guys are friendly as well so I expect (hope?) they would be willing to help.

why the hell dose everyone hate shrub?

(nodgam) #6

dont know :banghead: - me likes shrub :bump:

(=DaRk=CrAzY-NuTTeR) #7

yeah, it has more features than ETpro, i just think its better

(Ragnar_40k) #8

Agreed. They should hate stupid shrub admins instead, which mess around with the features.

(Demolama) #9

its a shame that shrub left the modding scene and stop updating shrub… he should have a tleast given the code to someone to fix a lot of the problems

(chr0nicles) #10

Shrub was the fun mod, fixes some bugs, lots of ‘fun’ settings, because of those fun settings the majority disliked shrub, since there were lots of differences between shrub servers , players just wanting to play normal ET would find themselves often on the wrong server…
Shrub died.

ETpro is the competition mod, fixes all known bugs (more then shrub ever did), has an anticheat system builtin which is far more effective then Punkbuster, ETpro is still being actively developed.

(=DaRk=CrAzY-NuTTeR) #11

i still like shrub more

the idea of a game is to have fun, winning means nothing if you havn’t had fun doing it, shrub is a fun MOD so why should it be different

maby if people respected that then shrub would still be getting fixed and made

(chr0nicles) #12

the idea of a game is to have fun, winning means nothing if you havn’t had fun doing it, shrub is a fun MOD so why should it be different

Its different because the maker intended it to be different, the majority of players define ‘stock’ gameplay as fun, joining 3 to 5 servers and finding some admin is using lame settings isn’t fun, this truely worked irritating  as i already said shrub was a fun mod, but for some real gameplay i suggest joining ETpro servers only.

(=DaRk=CrAzY-NuTTeR) #13

yeah but they are not ‘lame’ they are fun, they are good and thats wot makes shrub a good mod

anyway back on topic

try turning XP save off, wot system spec do u have for the server?

(Penguin) #14

who’s to say whats lame? we all have our opinions which is the reason for not every single server being just one mod. Each server is made the way it is for those who enjoy that type of gameplay and anyone who deosn’t should simply go somwhere else.

How come every time the word shrub is mentioned on this forum it has to turn into a shrub vs ETpro debate? Its funny every time someone comes here with a problem it turns into a debate. The competition people that bow down to bani need to take the stick out their ass, go get laid, and realize this is just a game.

(TripMn) #16

Boomstick Im glad you responded to this thread. I was hoping someone like you would see it. I know ND80 runs quite a few servers. Some of which are running shrub. Have you guys been having the problems that i described above? I never had this problem before. It all started when I updated my server to the last version of shrub that was released. The beta version. The server runs fine for hours. Then after a map is complete and everyone is in intermission the countdown to the next map runs out and the server crashes.

(BoomStick) #17

I run test 13 on ours with no problems. Does it happen on the same map every time? if so i’d get rid of the map. I have heard of some maps conflicting with the stableness of some servers. If thats not it you might want to try downgrading to a different version of shrub, theres not really much of a difference between 1.1 and 1.2 and if it fixes your problem it would probably be worth it. Could you post some specs of your server, maps you run win/linux. If you want you can send your cfgs to xdboomstick@comcast.net and ill have a look at them.

ANYWAY BACK ON TOPIC!!!
