This list of servers meets these conditions:

  1. FF
  2. Not NQ
  3. Allow SC and SK
  4. No bots
  5. Shuffle when needed

PLZ add to this list. There are alot of people running around ET trying to find a game like this and all those empty servers. Just ain’t right.

I wonder how strict you are with “3. Allow SC and SK”.

On my former clan-server, we didn’t allow it unconditionally. For example, if one team could just SC/SK the whole other team for 5-6 spawnwaves, people have a reason to get pissed. So in that case, we just asked to balance the teams and keep the game going.

I also agree with murka10, ET 2.60b servers should be preferred for their increased security. (Be it ETPro or not.)

But if you really want to do something “useful”, (mind the quotes) maybe you could make a list of servers which only run custom maps and no custom sounds or skin packs.

Maps are as good as the players who play it, so I’ve never been partial to mods or stock or otherwise. Or versions for that matter.

I just started 2.6 so I’m just becoming aware of security issues, but I know for me personally the best gaming-thus far-has been on 2.55.

IMO you are exactly proving my point. If nobody can leave the spawn area, that team is just not good enough and the game is unbalanced. You could endure and just keep killing the “loser team” until they quit, or you could try to keep it balanced by joining the other team.
I’m not saying this applies for every time someone is spawnkilled, neither for competitions. (The latter is where you exactly want to see who is the better team.)

Now you made it clear that you don’t appreciate whining, but are the things I’m talking about too loose or can this still be considered “SK allowed” even though there are limits?

A shuffle is a good idea esp. if one team getting blown out 5 maps in a row.

I played 2.55 for this past year and a half and never experienced any security issues (not to my knowledge anyway). But this past couple of weeks I’ve seen several servers get hacked.

Aside from the hacking issue are there any other security risks 2.55?

IIRC, a malicious server admin could potentially hack users connecting to his server by using a buffer overflow technique to get remote shell access.

NoQuarter: 202 servers
Other mods: 1350 server

(That includes both 2.60 and 2.60b servers.)

Of course that doesn’t necessarily mean that any of the 1350 are “good places to play”.

Well within my search criteria (ping, number of players, etc) I don’t have a problem finding NQ games. But I’m pretty particular. For example, I don’t go to servers called “I F*** your mother”, etc.

i didn’t think he used one. We accidentally banned him from our server once awhile back and he had given us scripts and stuff that he used and on top of that we had countless demo’s of him literally owning and not hacking. of course it could be a different zephyr
