Files don’t appear to be downloading once I attempt to join a sserver, and I am also banned from several servers for no apparent reason. I also get a prompt that says something about a Pure Server failure, I can’t get screenshot because there is always that download screen. When I try to download something it just stays in that same way, no bytes copied, 0% finished, etc.).

Try these CVARs in concole:
cl_wwwDownload “1”
cl_allowDownload “1”

If you are banned from several servers for non-visiting or idk.
Then it’s caused by 2.60b ban bug what Jaymod servers have.
Some servers are 2.55 servers,like 188.165.209.117:29000(.EA#NoDownload),now if you connect with it with 2.60b patch,you will notice IP:188.165.209.117:29500.And you ill get ban message,for that,helps connecting by manually,which means in concole way.
/connect 188.165.209.117:29000
If you still get ban message,contact with admin,

Is ET added as exception in your firewall?
Is it installed in Program Files under 7? If so, started as admin?
Which files have you downloaded to install ET? Link?
