We had a visit from a certain guy named GOD who crashed our well known ET server running Shrub. We also know that he’s been crashing random servers running ETPub as well. Any news on this new server crashing guy?

This is the first time I hear about this guy… How does he crash the servers? What exploit does he use?

Well we didn’t copy the server log so it’s hard to tell (I feel stupid for not logging it). But it has nothing to do with the message buffer overflow that kicks the users. It’s the server that actually crashs. I’ll keep you posted as soon as I have more info on this guy. I just wanted to know if we were the first ones to get the visit from this wise ass.

Well… It would help to see which exploit he is using, it may be the one from a while ago that has been patched already (except in non-maintained mods, like shrub), and he is targetting older servers, or hopefully it is not a new exploit.

What version of et ? If it is unpatched or 2.56 there’s a number of crash exploits. Not much you can do about that except upgrade. If you are on 2.6 and are using etded, you might try ettv instead.
