Server crasches much more after 1.02 upgrade, any ideas ?

Ok, I may have missed a few topics, since I’ve been away so if there’s already any discussion dedicated to this topic, pls point me in the right direction.

Anyway, I’m running my ET server on Linux, the server is 20+4 player and runs in a commandprompt on the server, in case that matters.

Before the 1.02 upgrade I was able to keep it up and running constantly it for about 12-14 days in a row before it would give up on me with the error message “Segmentation Fault” and then it would anyway just be a matter of restarting it in the same commandprompt so it was quite easy to prevent by manually doing “quit” + a restart every other weekend.

After the upgrade it no longer agrees with me, and will only run for about 2-3 days in a row and then it will A) exit with an error message I don’t remember but similar to the above and B) completely lock up the commandprompt so it too needs to be killed and a new one started before the server can be restarted. :moo:

Mind you, Linux never needs a restart during all this, and the ET server config is the same before the patch as after, also I have tried both the previous shrubmod, the new beta-shrubmod for ET 1.02, as well as ETPro 2.0.1 and “plain vanilla” ET. None of it will keep the server running for more than 2-3 days before it dies. :frowning:

So I’m hoping that unless this is a general problem someone else maybe has encountered and solved this (?) Does anyone have any ideas on what to do ? Any old files or settings to be deleted that I could have missed, any config I need to do or whatever, I’ll try it all

Fenris, really would help if you cost post the exact error message that you are getting when the server shuts down, say the last 100 lines or so. I’m running Shrub with the patch and am not having similar problems. My servers are also linux.

Hmm, yes well the problem is that it could not be copied since the commandprompt is frozen, and I did not write it down the last time, but yes I’ll provide it as soon as I get the next dump  just thought I’d check if anyone had encountered the error anyway, sometimes you can just tell the error without the actual error code

(Can’t take it from the serverlog either since all that happens is that the last entry is something like someone saying something, or being shot or whatever and then the log ends when the server hangs.)

“Hopefully” (hmm, or not…) I’ll have another crasch this weekend and more details. Btw, do you have any idea what the segmentation fault error is ?

PS: I did mention didn’t I, that the error is not caused by shrub, or etpro.

The fact that a segmentation fault happened, in itself, isn’t very informative… some context from the server may be helpful, though, or–if the crash happens while running etpro, a stack trace should be printed (this would be most helpful in determining what’s going on.)

its always fuckin annoying when it throws me to spectator after every single round :banghead:

Still holding my breath…
I removed the new custom maps from the server and kept only the 6 original maps and RTCC2+Temple2 which I knew I had had in rotation before the upgrade, and so far the server is still running…

Don’t know if this is your problem or not, but I use the web download and noticed that if I didn’t have a FALLBACKURL listed it would crash. I entered the same path as the BASEURL and it doesn’t crash any more.

Seems you must have a fallbackurl entered.

its not the 1.02 patch its a combonation of pk3 files on et. cause i run et with the 1.02 patch all the time and it works fine.
