What the hell SD, at least give us some intel…
Server Authentication
He’s refering at idSoftware/Bethesda (not sure) but dont blame SD, this time its not their fault.
I’m sure Activision had something to do with it too. Don’t they still own some of the rights to it?
As far as I know the publishing rights were bought by iD some months ago. Judging by the replies from SD in this thread, iD/Bethesda is responsible for the authentication server.
There are a couple of things I don’t understand though.
Why do some servers get authenticated and others don’t? If we reboot our server, it gets authenticated without a problem but others won’t get authenticated no matter what. I can run a local dedicated server without any probs and it gets authenticated every single time.
As you can see in the pic, it gets re-authenticated every time after I lose my connection because of my current internet problems.
What’s the difference?
Dr. Funkenstein
Because the servers authenticated some time ago and its still valid? as far as i understood it, old server which were running at least once always get authenticated, new servers (fresh installed etc) wont because they never authenticated. Im not sure if this is the matter, maybe someone from SD can explain what happens when a server authenticates. I mean is there a file on the server which gets created when the server is authenticated once and the server works fine. If yes, is it possible to copy that file to other servers so they get authenticated? Im thinking about the serverlicense.dat, or am I completely wrong?
C’mon Stealth, TAW isn’t a clan, we’re an online community.
But anyway, it’s true. We’re loosing people AND money to this problem. Don’t think we’ll ever see any of the costs back for a server we can’t use. :’(
AFAIK the authentication goes through Demonware, so Activision/Blizzard, is once again the pile of horse manure as it always has been.
And just out of curiosity, why are the TAW servers affected by this? They’ve been around since the Dawn Of Time.
Dr. Funkenstein
Hm, well, I deleted all files in the save dir. For me that is a normal procedure when our content has changed. Normally not a problem, but now no sdnet/serverlicensecode.dat is generated anymore. Using different serverlicensecode.dat files result in messages stating the file is invalid.
That’s odd!
I’m trying to run a local dedicated server but cant get it to authenticate.
Would it be possible to “trick” the dedicated server into thinking it’s authenticated by redirecting the IP address of the authentication server to your local host and using a previously validated serverlicence.dat?
Just a silly thought.

Recieved an answer from a mail to Bethesda…they are blaming Activision because A. is the publisher.
Therefore did I post a topic in their forum…http://community.activision.com/thread/200416632?tstart=0…
The more posts …hopefully someone will react:infiltrator:.
One of our members have also mailed ZeniMax, head company…reactions hopefully…

Actifail doesn’t give a ****. No matter of replies there will do anything. If they cared they would not have just randomly deleted the old community forums without warning and never bring them back.
Still have my original conversation’s with Actifail http://clanaardvark.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=anythingquake&action=display&thread=210
can anyone help me…i cant get my game to work? downloaded and it says failed pure server check (Ui_mp_x86.dll ???
I try to launch a new server but I have a problem authentication…First post about this problem on March start date…We are now mid-April and still no solution…
Try talking with people actually responsible for it and who have control over it. Splash Damage doesn’t, and can only act as a messenger. They can’t give any new information about it if they aren’t getting anything. badman already said it was being looked into, and probably doesn’t have any new information.
If you want better answers, try iD/Zenimax, but don’t expect much.

Thx, I send a email to iD/Zenimax, but I don’t expect much… I saw on iD software website they still sell the game $39.99… and it’s impossible to authenticate new server…pfff
Old_wolf wrote on bethesda and activision forum but he didn’t have an answer…
I do not blame SD, just surprised that no solution is found.
I have also sent a mail to ID/Zenimax…let’s see what happens :oppressor:
