Okay so you don’t always have access to the internet, why the hell can’t you sytem link to play this game? I understand no split-screen but really come on SD.

PC clients still need to login to Steam before they can play offline on LAN

I thought System Link was enabled

(BiigDaddyDellta) #7

Yeah this is for 360 though, I’m in the navy and I tried to get all the guys on the ship playing and we couldn’t because there’s no system link. It pissed me off really bad after talking this game up to everyone about how it’s a great MP expirience then no being able to play with them.

(eMwegA) #8

multiplayer revolution games dont need a lan modus…

(BiigDaddyDellta) #9

haha, yeah for internets only huh? heheh

Yeah, no system link or party system for matchmaking are horrible decisions by SD on console. What were they thinking? I mean…it’s not like every single game since the 360 released hasn’t had those basic options. They haven’t even had the decency to address the lobby issue ONE TIME. Not even once. But hey…they take care of the 2000 PC gamers who bought BRINK and ignore the 400,000 who bought it on console. Good move SD. Good move.

BTW…I also play it on PC but most of my friends play it on 360.

I had posted on the Bethesda forums the other day about Brink not having system link. Realized that this forum might actually have someone from the devs look at it since it’s their forum, not the publishers forum…

I have the Xbox 360 version of Brink, and yes, I purchased it after release knowing full well what many of its supposed “shortcomings” were. Truth be told, it has been a frustratingly fun experience. I wanted to like this game so much, that I’ve played it to the point where I really do… I enjoy the heck out of the game, the customization is FANTASTIC! From the characters to the guns (especially the guns), it is easily one of the best customization mechanics in any game. I love it, the gameplay is frantic, and REQUIRES players to work together. I have NEVER played a game that forced me to work together with teammates so much, and felt so rewarded for doing so.

I make that point for this reason however, as much as I really enjoy this game it really needs the option to play local offline play via System Link. Halo LAN parties, while not the rage that they used to be, are still held and enjoyed to this day. I guess I have to question the decision to not include it. Why has this feature been omitted when this game was clearly designed for it and so clearly could benefit from it?

I am hoping, since Splash Damage (I assume) has been watching the forums and the community requests, if this was a feature that could be added in a future patch release. That, and some of the numerous other features people are requesting, such as a lobby would be fantastic and would be a natural fit. It’s true that nearly everyone has internet these days, but not all connections are created equal and connecting to Live and using the same connection for multiple consoles doesn’t make that much sense if the bandwidth can’t support it. Local offline play could in fact solve a few of those nasty lag issues many complain about…

Point is this: System Link for Xbox 360 - Please add it. Even the sloppy Nerve port of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars on the 360 had system link. I love Brink, and every additional option is another reason to love it more!

Thank you!

“built in LAN”? The LAN has nothing to do with Steam - you just need Steam to be connected to launch and play Brink, whatever server type you’re connecting to.

  1. Connect PC to network - internet access required for every PC (and the server)
  2. Launch Steam
  3. Launch Brink
  4. Direct connect to server LAN IP
  5. Profit

talking about 360 here dazman, sorry.

(crazyfoolish) #14

I can understand that this would be frustrating.

possible “solutions” discussions violate This forum EULA, so i suggest to close This thread.

(Jess Alon) #16

Did you just not know there was no LAN? I knew there wasn’t and it bothered me a lot too because I have a friend I play with at my house all the time and we like to LAN on games and I knew he’d have to get an xbox live account to play with me in my own house.

(Jess Alon) #17

Hey chief why don’t you simmer down? No one is discussing solutions.

What’s your steam?

Because when I tried to add v1ck_db it links me to. http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198022552774/games/?tab=all and they don’t have Brink.

(its al bout security) #19

regaurdless this should be the norm for games now…

sd should really consider playing console games more often before making them because they forgpt some key elements of MP games

(BiigDaddyDellta) #20

that thread is for an xbox live lobby solution not a LAN play, so I suggest to close your face :infiltrator:
