Seriously, **** THIS GAME

(iamriot) #41

Of course I expected negative feedback from my original post, but saying “**** this game” is hardly immature. I surely could have said " I do declare good sirs, this game is at best atrocious" but I was pissed off. It happens to adults too and adults say ****, and ****, and goddamn. I could have dropped a lot more f bombs but the just of my argument is that Brink was released an unfinished product with a **** ton of problems. Go look at the support forum and the number of Windows PC complaints that are being posted over and over again. Console gamers are the majority of the market these days and they are the only ones that got a somewhat decent game to play out of this deal. It’s very frustrating when you’ve been fanboying this game since E3 nearly two years ago and you finally get it only to realize you’d have had more fun playing with a dried up white piece of dog ****.

Not really, console players can’t play together …

pc gamer say what???

(zenstar) #46

And that’s what comes across as immature. As an adult you should realise that lashing out in anger / frustration makes you look like you’re throwing a fit.

But they don’t say these things to random strangers when having a discussion. Except on the internet when hidden behind anonymity and that’s when people assume you’re a douche. (Note: not saying you are one, just pointing out how things could be perceived).

This is a completely invalid way of figuring out the scale of the problems. There could be 1 million complaints but if the game sold 6 billion copies then 1 million complaints is nothing. Without all the numbers you cannot draw any conclusions. Forums are also the place where people go to complain resulting in a higher ratio of complaints in forums. They are biased and poisoned datasets.

Again: do you have the numbers to back up your claims? Statistics pulled out of the air are worth about the same as the air they were pulled from without backing.
It sucks that you’re frustrated but many people are perfectly happy about the game and are not experiencing issues. Putting your point across in a more civil way would be getting your point across in a more accepted way.

(Herandar) #47

Technically true, I suppose. It’s immature and ignorant.

I remember when I was in the fifth grade, there was a kid in my class who thought it was cool to curse. I remember specifically, the last day of the year, when we were outside, and he proclaimed “F*** this school.”

In the fifth grade, at an ultra-gentle, expensive Quaker private school. The absolute antithesis of any sort of school with hard knocks.

Cursing on this forum is no better.

Extended vocabularies and well formed analogies do nothing to differentiate yourself from the rest of the name callers and fanboy flamers.

(zenstar) #49

He says calling people who disagree “fanboy flamers”.
Herandar comes across as much more willing to discuss and approachable than most of your posts in this thread.
And this is going offtopic quickly.

I was terming them based on them a; being fanboys of Brink and b; flaming my post. Agreed on both your other points.

Just to be clear, I was merely expressing my frustration with the game and the many problems I’ve faced with it. IMO, ( I guess I should have said that first off), the game is, as I said before, an unpolished turd. I meant to express that only and not generate debate. I’m not trying to convince anyone of my opinion. Just a pissed off rant.

(Overgear) #51

Then maybe you should’ve written about it on your live journal?
IF it’s just a rant and not supposed to be a discussion or constructive in any way, there was no point posting it here.
Especially if it’s one of those ‘sorry it was 4am and I was really tired but totally angry and had to post immediately’ rants

(tokamak) #52

A lot of angry people make some very valid points. It’s just that the way they’re expressed makes me very hard to be empathic towards them. They also tend to mix in really good points with some complaining for the sake of complaining which also makes it difficult to take them serious.

(fearlessfox) #53

I don’t see anything wrong with allowing people a forum for catharsis here. It’ll keep SD aware of the fact that their game is causing just as much frustration as it is fun.

You can “not my blog” all you like, but I can completely understand how some people might like to vent this way being a UK ps3 user and playing a game that feels like no-ones playing it aside from a core group of 8-10 forum regs.

(Breo) #54

Above min. spec and 7 FPS? If you have a AMD/ATI give the latests drivers 11.5b a try.

SD are all too willing to listen to the players, but angry rants only indicate that there’s a problem, and it doesn’t tell them what exactly the problem is, what’s causing it and how it can be solved.

(iamriot) #56

If I’m not mistaken, thats what the Tech Support forum is for. This is general chat in which, if what I have done wasn’t allowed, it’d have been moved or deleted. I expressed what had happened to me in a “general” sense. One look over the Tech forum and you can see plenty of detailed descriptions of the same problem. That was not my purpose with the creation of this thread. My purpose was to call the game a heap of garbage.

(Herandar) #57

Your thread is allowed. If it wasn’t, I would have closed it this morning. Splash Damage understands that there is a difference between a complaint, venting frustration and trolling, something that Bethesda does not seem to appreciate.

My post earlier was my personal reponse, and should not be interpreted as the opinion of Splash Damage. But I think everyone understood that.

Bethesda site is very strict like 90 or 60 seconds between posts and it bumps me out of login. I was glad to find this site. Much more fun with a better user friendly layout. The background image on Bethesda, although cool in and of itself, makes the site look hard to read. The black background is very tiring on the eyes. The post structure has a full page free-flow look that makes it hard to sense where one post ends and one begins. I post on there occasionally, but it is also just a stranger place. I like this one much, much better!

Sorry Bethy. :penguin:

Off topic: black background with slightly offwhite text is meant to be the easiest to read (according to some html study thing done a long time ago that I can’t link because I don’t even remember where to find it anymore). /shrug. Personal preference I guess. And Yes: this forum seems more fun.

On topic: Ranting posts are OK but they generally get a flaming response. As other people have said: a less angsty post that allows more discussion is generally better received than a straight up rant which simple raises hackles and get’s it’s main points lost amongst the less substantial or vague complaints. Either way it’s going to generate discussion (this is a forum after all) but an angry rant is just going to generate negative discussion whereas a better structured, critical argument will generally generate more constructive discussion.

Just my $0.02

We finally found the culprit! This is a serious issue that needs to be fixed ASAP.
