Seriously, Splash Damage.... SERIOUSLY! (Don't be a let down)

(tokamak) #21

Well that’s what I mean. I’m anxious to see the essential fix, there’s no way the DLC will be enjoyable without it.

(ZephonZA) #22

Hopefully the patch will contain fixes to the technical problems, they can keep teh new maps and items, a fixed game is needed firstly. Dont understand what people are on about with BRINK having no-one playing. If I recall the ESL is running a BRINK tournament with over 900 players and a whopping 15 000 euro prize. Give it time, the gamers that wont give it a chance, aint worth having in a community…few games have a smooth start, SC2 was unbalanced, even CoD4 had its errors…

(dazman76) #23

I have to admit DA, it’s wishful thinking on my part  I think at first I confused it with the “balance fixes for PC will go live with next patch”, so I genuinely did think we’d get some fixes/tweaks with the DLC as well. Now, I’m just hoping SD have a surprise waiting for us - and personally wishing for the one-button™ to be nuked into oblivion, never to be spoken of again. I know, that probably isn’t going to happen - but I can hope

Not even the weapons? I am sure its deemed as fair by many seeing as someone had to pre order but when there are other people scavenging multiple pre orders (I wasnt even asked for Proof of Purchase when I got mine) and using them all on one account they can now have up to 4 extra weapons. Not worried so much about the clothing or tatoos but some people having more gun variety then others can be unfair.

You can claim the stats are the same but still that means they can has the “same” gun with two set ups and since all guns thus far are smgs or pistols it means those using light have more choices then others playing as light. Again none of the other pre order perks give you anything thats really an advantage in battle, but having a few extra guns means you have options others don’t have IN GAME and IN BATTLE.

Also not to mention why would it be such a big deal to just charge $2 a gun or charge whatever for pre order offers to just make it fair as many who have multiple preorders bought them from others. Dont know what all the future DLC is looking like or if there will even be anything after the 1st but dont screw this up, dont allow a select few players to be running around with up to 4 more guns then other players.

(Galaxy) #25

The PC version will probably get the weapon balance tweaks plus the stat site at the same time as the dlc, since they said it would be released with the next update (for the tweaks). To be frank I mainly care about the weapon balance as the game runs fine for me but I am just hoping (as probably many others) that because of this SD will take the opportunity to release other very requested changes for the sake of all the other people that do not play the game, this is their only chance, as people are going to return only because of the buzz from the release of the dlc, they are not going to follow up other updates.

(badman) #26

In terms of stats, the pre-order weapons are identical to weapons in the main game, so you’re not missing out on any tactical depth there.

(wolfnemesis75) #27

Nope! You are forgetting the placebo effect! If I wear Air Jordans I must be able to jump higher than someone who doesn’t! Same principle in Brink. My Doom gun is just that awesome.

(its al bout security) #28

yes badman the guns are but there is one attachment we all want.

the greeneye!

i dont have it but i need a scope that doesnt cut out peripherals

(Kurnuttaja) #29

To be honest SD already is a let down, think of ATI for example. One month, one damn month and nothing done.

(its al bout security) #30

ati<nvidia

(Thundermuffin) #31

On drivers, yes, but when it came down to power Nvidia was losing for a time; it shouldn’t even matter, anyways, as my ATI card worked flawlessly with every other game I’ve bought recently (ran Crysis 2 demo/beta amazingly well on a 4870, BC2 was fine on high, etc), but BRINK comes out and it suddenly isn’t good enough, yet there’s no other game I can’t run.

You do realize your precious Xbox has an ATI card, correct?

Badman,

I see your point for not releasing a date, but you do realize that your game is dieing right before your eyes, right? Just a week ago, the game was struggling with 2,000 people PEAK playing the game and now it’s barely touching 1,500 people a day with the majority of the people playing now EU. The peak for 8-10pm (prime time) for U.S gamers is about 600-800 people… Not releasing a date is fine, but is it too hard to state exactly what’s coming out with the DLC?

What will it take for a drastic change to happen ? Does the game need to have less players than RTCW? I’m not quite sure how silence is helping your cause and helping revive this game.

At this point marketing wise, you would need to release an awesome patch + DLC combination along with a drop in price of the game after all the review critics bashed your game repeatedly. At this point, no one from the PC side of things and probably the game in general have any faith in the DLC because there is ZERO information regarding it minus what was released weeks ago! If the DLC is as is, say so and the PC community will be officially dead.

With that being said,

All the PC community is asking for is WHAT is currently being done to fix the issue with the game dieing day by day. If it’s too much to ask for, release the SDK and we’ll fix it ourselves!!!

100% agree. That number would also be a lot lower if ESL didn’t have a $15,000eu brink tournament.

How come hannes wasnt included in the private beta testing to create a competition mod for this game? Does it really take over a month and a half to adjust a spawn time to 30 seconds?

Agreed… I’m gonna take a screenshot during prime time for NA because it already looks like the peak is going to be set at 1350 today. I mean… It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see your game is dieing and I know for sure SD didn’t sell brink the way it was anticipated on selling, seeing it was hyped to be “Game of the Year”…

(Shinigami) #35

Now im really confused. Why is he allowed to say: "Not currently aware of any plans to make the preorder content available as DLC, no. " But he is not allowed to say “Not currently aware of any plans to make a matchmaking system,no

(Oschino1907) #36

I already know that, my point is since they are basically then a duplicate you have more overall weapon options in the game. If someone gets their hand on all the pre order codes (which people def do/will) they can then run two set ups for the same gun.

Caeser/Ritchie

Hockler/Belgo

2x Carb-9

2x Bulpdaun

That means someone could have up to 4 gun setups other people could not have and access them IN GAME. This isnt even mentioning the Green Eye Scope and those that feel they could benefit from that. But come on, how can you not acknowledge having basically 4 extra guns to customize doesnt give someone a small but FACTUAL advantage. Especially when it comes to Lights which already have the most limited gun variety capable of having 33% more guns then other Lights.

I tried 2x Bulpdaun and it felt wrong or was slow to switch. Some of it is just cosmetic though since you are essentially just reloading in a way. You may have a good point though.

(Oschino1907) #38

I wouldnt recommend running both of the guns at the same time (although Carb-9 lovers would) but its for me more of a problem that you can have two set ups for the “same” gun. Like for smgs having one silenced and one not, or one for speed/quickness and the other for range/supression. Or with the pistols giving a 40% increase in the total available to those with the Pre Orders. Like I said the Lights are being effected the most.

No matter what way you put it you are still giving that person more options in game, they have more weapon set ups then everyone else. Not as much to sacrifice by choosing an attachment when you have another gun thats stat wise identical.

No reason a select few should have these options while everyone else is stuck with nothing or only one pre order code. Sell the pre orders to everyone, not make us search out others and purchase them from the few people that have them and are willing to part with them, or by trying to scam a business. We should ALL be on EQUAL ground.

Well, A lot of those other games that are running smoothly are using DirectX for rendering not OpenGL. Brink render system uses OpenGL and AMD/ATI have left their OpenGL protocol on the back burner for the most part for quite awhile now.
