Seeking a variety of Q & A questions

Like JammyDodger at Brink Addict, our forum has also secured a short Q & A with SD. Since it can take weeks to receive back Q & A responses, I am placing a deadline of 1/25/2011 on questions so that we can get some answers back before too long.
If you have any good questions to ask you can post them here and I will transfer them to The Brink Forum, or you can join and post them in the Q & A Thread there with the others.

Here is the list of questions so far as gathered from the SD & Bethesda forums, and The Brink Forum.

  1. Can you provide more clarity with regard to a release date?
  2. Are (you) planning to incorporate a “theatre” mode, including free cams, pause, step back, etc.?
  3. What is the recoil on the guns in the final build comparative to?
  4. What’s the maximum strength on the console aim assists?
  5. How does SMARTING and looking to shoot at the same time work?
  6. Are there any open spaces on maps? (i.e.: Sniper alleys. Please say no.)
  7. In character creation, in the final build, will we be able to pick a texture AND color for various items or will it be just preset as a color wheel with randomized set textures?
  8. How many maps are there?
  9. When will new videos be available?
  10. Are you going to update the Bethesda page with more Ark locations?
  11. Will PC players be able to create extra levels?
  12. Will Xbox360 players be able to buy extra items from the Marketplace?
  13. Will you be putting out Brink clothing/costumes? Like the Bug’s Mask and The Anger’s Bandana? Possibly even The Bug’s Tactical Vest?
  14. Can you tell us any more about how console servers will be handled (host dropping out in co-op or online games, etc.)?
  15. Will you port PC created content (skins, maps, etc.) to consoles like it was with Oblivion or UT3?
  16. What kinds of merchandising deals have been made thus far?
  17. Will there be any light, medium, or heavy exclusive areas on any maps?
  18. How will cheating be handled?
  19. Can you set weapons to fire semi-auto instead of full auto? If not, will any of the Medium Assault Rifles be semi-auto only? (Such as the M-14 look-a-like)
  20. Is the Medic’s health buff part of the normal heal, or a separate skill?
  21. Can Engineers move or relocate a turret after it has been placed? Can they do the same with land mines?
  22. What types of offensive skills will medics have?
  23. Will any of the maps have environmental hazards that can actually hurt or kill the player? (Falling off the map, spinning blades, exposed wires, etc.)
    If so, will you be able to push the enemy into them with a slide tackle or grenade?
  24. How many types of ammo are soldiers able to hand out, and what are their effects? Will they apply to weapons that don’t use normal cartridges, such as grenade launchers?
  25. Will the game have a “Headphone mode” in the sound options to create virtual surround sound?
  26. Will Molotov’s have a lasting burn effect on terrain?
  27. Is SD using mega textures in Brink, as they did with ET: Quake Wars?
  28. What are some of the biggest changes that have been made to the game just for the sake of balance?
  29. Will we be able to change the texture of our pre-order pack items? (Ex: Security Sloani Mask, the Security UAC shirt from the DOOM Pack)
  30. Will there be a flannel shirt without ripped arms for the Resistance?
  31. Will the Operative get a backstab ability?
    If so, will it be a one hit kill, or a one hit down?
  32. Will the Pre-order guns (Psycho and Spec-Ops) be available to everyone eventually, or are they pre-order only?
  33. Can you still lean?
  34. Do you have any DLC maps or other content planned? Will there be any? (XBOX360/PS3)
  35. What is the maturity rating you expect the game to receive?
  36. What kind of modes are there?
  37. Will there be any type of P vs. E survival type mode?
  38. Will there be a player vs. bots mode where you can train on bots with multiple difficulties?
  39. Can you give us details about the medic only missions?
  40. Can you give us details about the engineer only missions?
  41. How is game chat handled? (Is it open to all players on team/squad/proximity?)
  42. Will the radar always be on and showing enemies or is it earned or activated?
  43. Is there melee in the game and if so how is it handled?
  44. Will you be able to join/leave a match with your party?
  45. Will you be able to throw back a grenade?
  46. Will a player be able to pick up enemy weapons or ammo? Will it keep the buff that it had?
  47. How long is the campaign? Does it lengthen in time when playing online?
  48. Any reward for kill streaks?
  49. Will there be online in-depth statistics? (similar to Halo or Battlefield)
  50. Will there be clan tags?
  51. Any plans to censor or change content for the German version of the game?

I got one “will there be any female characters in brink?” I’m sure this hasn’t been asked before now:wink:

Ok on a serious note.

I guess the talk at recent is about DLC which is quite strange considering the game isn’t out yet so I would ask along the lines of DLC, Maybe ask if they have any plans already to release some new content shortly after release, maybe something that wasn’t ready in time for this release?

Also some clarity on release date would be nice. We hear different things from everyone and spring isn’t exactly the most accurate of release dates.

If Brink is still in development, can we expect game in end of the spring or beginning of 2nd Q 2011 (before summer)?

Are they planning to incorporate a proper ‘theatre’ mode when release? This includes freecams, pause, step back etc.

Honestly can’t remember if I asked that in jammy’s Q&A, was so long ago.

I’d like to know this as well … I’d put it more like this;

Is there a chance that Brink pro mod can be made and integrated by SD instead of being made by hannes as a 3rd party mod?

no offence to hannes who always does a great job, but sfar as I know it is just himself with some input from others who makes pro mod, SD should do it :stuck_out_tongue:

ET:QW Pro was made with the help of all the top teams who debated and tested everything before each release. Also there was other people helping with certain little things here and there, guess who did forward spawn on Salvage?

In hindsight I spose it is debatable whether pro mod is better made by SD or 3rd party programmers who love the game.

I have few 15 questions that i think are good. you could add any that you like. Thanks a bunch?

1.How is Game chat handled? (is it open to all players on team/squad/proximity)

2.Will there be a Hardcore mode? (limited hud, more damage, less ammo etc.)

3.Will the radar always be on and showing enemies or is it earned/activated?

4.Is there melee in the game if so how is it handled?

5.Do bullets penetrate/destroy soft cover?

6.What is stopping a team of all Heavy body type from slaughtering a medium/small body type in a match? (how is body type balanced)

7.what is the max level/rank and how long does it take to get there?

8.will you be able to join/leave a match with your party?

9.will you be able to throw back a grenade?

10.will a player be able to pick up enemy weapons or ammo? (will it keep the buff that it had?)

  1. how long is the campaign? (in hours and does it lengthen in time when playing online?)

  2. any reward for kill streaks?

  3. Will there be online in-depth statistics? (similar to halo or Battlefield)

  4. When can we expect more videos/info/hands-on demo ? GDC?

  5. Will the be clan tags?

You should edit out some of those questions, you said you could ask a limited number right? I mean, you’re going to waste a question asking if there is a flannel shirt with tear off sleeves for the resistance???

I agree. You really need to boil these questions down to the most relevant non-stupid unanswered questions you can muster so that the true fans of game can get something out of it. Not the newbs that haven’t read horse’s BRINK manual. Or the call of duty fans that want freaking hardcore mode.
