Seeking a variety of Q & A questions
I agree. You really need to boil these questions down to the most relevant non-stupid unanswered questions you can muster so that the true fans of game can get something out of it. Not the newbs that haven’t read horse’s BRINK manual. Or the call of duty fans that want freaking hardcore mode.[/QUOTE

Real mature. Not trying to insult you buddy but I just get a little burnt out with this whole hardcore mode and people coming over to the bethesda forums wanting “call of duty” features added to brink. Unbalanced features.

Sorry if that’s not what you were going for. And sorry for the attitude. I tend to rub people the wrong way but that’s just how I am but suicide is never the answer.

But in short brink is a game that’s being designed to NOT have a hardcore mode. And it’s gonna mostly be the PC users that are going to make it for themselves. Console users not so much.

I’ll try and answer some off the top of my head, if i get something wrong im sure someone will correct me.
I have few 15 questions that i think are good. you could add any that you like. Thanks a bunch?

1.How is Game chat handled? (is it open to all players on team/squad/proximity)
A touchy subject, but global VOIP is disabled by default and can be turned on by the user, VOIP for friends is enabled by default

2.Will there be a Hardcore mode? (limited hud, more damage, less ammo etc.)

Nothing has been stated, but they have been very clear the there will be decent controls over the game so someone running their own server can tweak it how they want… whether this can be to a ‘hardcore’ style severity remains to be seen/

3.Will the radar always be on and showing enemies or is it earned/activated?

Enemy positions are earned for a limited time by the operatives interrogating downed enemies.

4.Is there melee in the game if so how is it handled?

Yes, once for knockdown, and if you hit them again when they’re down it finishes them off.

5.Do bullets penetrate/destroy soft cover?

No

6.What is stopping a team of all Heavy body type from slaughtering a medium/small body type in a match? (how is body type balanced)

Thorough testing and balancing.

7.what is the max level/rank and how long does it take to get there?

Level 20, but you can create 16 chars in total and any unlocks from 1 char are available to the rest. The time it takes is dependant on the player.

8.will you be able to join/leave a match with your party?

Join I’m guessing so, not sure about your point on all leaving at the same time?

9.will you be able to throw back a grenade?

If it has been mentioned i’ve not read it.

10.will a player be able to pick up enemy weapons or ammo? (will it keep the buff that it had?)

If this hasn’t been answered, it’d be nice to add to the list.

 1. how long is the campaign? (in hours and does it lengthen in time when playing online?)

Nothing has been released about the number of maps in the game, so I guess this could kinda lead on from the “how many maps are there?” question.

 1. any reward for kill streaks?

I wouldn’t expect so, but again it hasn’t been denied AFAIK

 1. Will there be online in-depth statistics? (similar to halo or Battlefield)

Again nothing announced, but it seems stats are being kept at a minimum to stop them driving play style.

 1. When can we expect more videos/info/hands-on demo ? GDC?

I think Bethesda need to answer this one, but maybe they could pass it on to them.

 1. Will the be clan tags?

I believe it was mentioned there will be stuff to cater to clans, such as the possibility of making an outift that everyone in the clan can wear etc. Dont know much beyond that.

(Exedore) #24

No, just at the Brink release party.

(Vaporman) #25

Well, 40+ for them to choose from. My guess is they will only answer about 10 to 15 total.

(Vaporman) #26

I agree. Once all the questions have been collected and organized, I’ll weed out the ones that are likely to provide the least amount of new, valuable information. Then, it’s up to them to choose which they prefer to answer.

(xTriXxy) #27

arent they under NDA? i dont expect all questions will be answered.

(tokamak) #28

It´s way more profitable for a publisher to give the scope to online magazines. See if their forums were the first place to hear it, there would be all kinds of interested people hanging around discussing it, that would mean a solid community would be build and now I think I lost my own train of thought here.

(.Chris.) #29

I’m sure they wouldn’t have agreed to the Q&A if they weren’t allowed to give any information…

your right, it was dum for me to tell you to kill yourself. i also am sorry for sounding like a noob. i did some searching for this H0rse brink info and found a ton of info. So i should thank you for that. just wanted to lastly say that i hate the call of duty games and really amped for brink.

Thanks for answering the questions

(Vaporman) #31

Undoubtably so. This is why I have come seeking input here and on Bethesda’s forums as well. With a wealth of questions to choose from, the staff member can pick from those that are less likely to get him killed by a medium operative for breaking any NDA. At least, this was my hope. Time will tell.

Also, I have once again updated the question list.

(Cankor) #32

This one I think needs clarification: If you get the unlock playing with one characater, you can apply it to another character instead of the one that earned it if you like.

As posted it might sound like if you get an unlock for one guy, all your other characters get an unlock as well, meaning all your characters would level up at the same time.

It’s actually a neat idea, you can still play with your high level guy while building a new one.

(DarkangelUK) #33

I think it may only apply to clothing thinking about it. I think I remember reading that there’s nothing to stop a seasoned player creating a new char and joining lower level players and rolling them, but you’d be able to tell they were seasoned as they would have weird and wonderful clothes, tattoos and stylings that are unlocked at higher levels.

(Dare) #34

Hey does anybody know if brink got push back to 5/17/11

(Humate) #35

Hmmm, assuming ofcourse they choose to wear those clothes right?
edit: throw that in as an official question

(tokamak) #36

That’s still spring 2011.
