Security or Resistance?

(fearlessfox) #1

Let’s get some psych 101 going on with all you emerging forum regs!

Which side did you pick? Was it based on the aesthetic or the philosophy or both?
What does it say about you?

Did you burn ants with a magnifying glass as a child? Does this and your natural affinity to be a water hoarding bastard expose sadistic totalitarian tendencies?

Did you cry when the rich children laughed at your hand-me-down PE kit? Does this along side your hippy-dippy dreadlock stylee provide evidence of self-righteous tree-humping affections?

Or do you just like to blow **** up, regardless?

I’m all about wearing a paper bag on my head and throwing grenades at the po-po, so if I can do this in the context of an online shooter I feel very much at home.

IE: Resistance for me.

How about y’all?

(Infernisle) #2

I picked resistance.

A) I love the armor made out of tires

B) Security doesn’t get beast looking gun camo

C) The po-po in this game suck if they - highly trained officers of the law - can’t defeat a bunch of random refugees, which, when I’m playing, is definitely the case

(vexicat) #3

Depends which team is balanced.

(Gamer2Gamers) #4

I really dig the security cause i can make a guy who looks exactly like Mike Haggar from final fight

(Dr.Ricktofen) #5

Security all the way!

They are the good guys really, for the most part.

Resistance are crazy and tried killing everyone.

Mabey i think that because i played the entire security campagin first…

Resistance also dont have as appealing clothing to me as the resistance.

(fearlessfox) #6

You have absolute zero sense of fun.

(xI MaTcheS Ix) #7

Resistance for me

It’s way more fun taking down the man! And I firmly believe that self-entitlement and “higher social status” perks are Bullsh!t.

(boozee84) #8

mostly resistance, because they look more badass!

(PlaidHero) #9

Resistance all the way.

It’s what I’d do if I were really in that situation. A group of people being extremely oppressed and pushed into essentially martial law with a tyrannical general? Yeah, fight the good fight.

No way would I stand for what the Security is doing. It’s totally wrong. I couldn’t be happier that the Guests rebelled. And Chen has a good philosophy as well. Only does what’s necessary to get what his people need. That’s all he wants. And unless you play the “What if?” missions, that’s all he does. I can’t see why anyone would stand with Security.

I’ve not played the campaign yet, but it’s not as black and white is it? Surely there’s a sympathetic side to the Security’s plight?

Listen to more audio diarys and you will learn.

But really, both sides are equally right in their own prespectives in a war they don’t reall want to fight.

(PlaidHero) #12

I have not read much into Security campaign or listened to much of the audio logs, but from what I see, the way Security goes about keeping the peace is completely oppressive. The Resistance campaign tells of water rations and Security not giving them proper living conditions despite having more than enough space available. They also say 5% of the population control 90% of the wealth. That isn’t right.

(peteXnasty) #13

After reading the logs, the resistance is delusional and will get everyone killed

Security all the way

Unless the security forces are hiding something big :o

(Dr.Ricktofen) #14

Yes but apperantly, they try to give the guests what they want, they give them supplies, they open a clinic, the guests raid the clinic, they demand they reopen the clinic, and the guests raid it again.

And the fact that they did make contact with the outside world, but the people there tortured and killed them, forcing the founders to move the Ark in fear they will attack.

But chen is a pretty good guy, (and bad ass), in the what if mission for resistance, in the reactor level, you hear chen was bluffing and it was his more “crazy and radical” members that went ahead and did it.

I still need to get all the audio logs so i know the whole story, but both sides are doing what they feel is right, their leaders may be wrong or evil or w/e but the soldiers themselves are doing it for their rightous cause.

This is what makes Brink have so much potential, which is why i was VERY disapointed that they took out alot of cutscenes and ingame scripted conversations like in the container city gameplay video.

(PlaidHero) #15

I dunno man, I still stand with the Guests. Do you know how many times forces like Security publicly say they “tired” to help? Usually this attempt is half assed and still comes with so many restrictions it might as well not of happened in the first place. I’m assuming those logs come from the Security side, and going on record chances are they’d change details or leave out important facts to make Resistance look like the bad guys. That’s just my point of view. I know the Resistance isn’t all good, and the radicals do bad bad things. Like that mission where Chen was angry. But as far as Chen approaches the rest of the missions, well that I completely agree with.

(PillowTalk) #16

Resistance, because the complete “The Anger” set is the coolest outfit in any game anywhere.

(Dr.Ricktofen) #17

The audio logs from the founder woman are somewhat neutral but still more on securuty side. Everything they say seems reasonable, but to leave the guests in such a condition is wrong, security cold not prevent this however, so this war was unstopable.

If the guests were alloud to go free or contact the outside world, savage forces would invade the Ark and take their tech, security saving the Ark, in my opinion, is the best option.

Although the founders could share their water and such more and would slove most problems. Their veiw is that they built the ark, they saved it, they draged it out to sea, and its their Ark, and they let the guests in even tho most were criminals or diseased. They could have turned them away but they didn’t. Thus they belive they can love in wealth if they want, which is wrong. Even tho it is their ark.

(Ainokeato) #18

Resistance, I sympathize with their cause. I whole-heartedly disliked the attitude of the Security during the cut-scenes…

(PillowTalk) #19

Story wise, I’d have to go with Security. Everyone seems more reasonable, and just wants to diffuse the situation. The Resistance, on the other hand, is led by a charismatic mad-man, and his second in command is like a religious fanatic, especially in the “What If” scenarios.

(Dr.Ricktofen) #20

That is why they are what-if

“WE WILL HAVE JUSTICE! IN THIS WORLD…OR THE NEXT!”

blows up the ARK

Chen: i was bluffing you crazy peice of ****!

Ironiclly the guy who is worried in the beggining and his brother is in the security, turns out to be a madman who will kill everyone.
