IF there is a BRINK 2, you guys should have a much bigger team than this. everything is half finished as if people where hopping from one task to the next far too much.
SD, you are spreading yourself too thin
You don’t know what caused the broken release, it happens to small dev teams and it happens to the larger.
I’m not making excuses for them.
Also, this does not deserve its own thread; we all like attention but the content of your OP is barely even reply worthy.
Also: were*
with brink it is increasingly clear that SD are a modding team and not a development team, they modified the engine but the result has no sense
brink is technically embarassing even it could be a good game, but omg no comment for the technical sector of this game
yeah, it’s a shame. This game is at most HALF finished. They say the first DLC is for free and think they’re heroes? DLC are like AIDS for the world of computergames. A few years ago something like that was a free big patch with free content OR an Addon with a big bunch of new things for 15-20 euro. Now they wanna sell us 4-5 Maps for 15 euro… haha, very sad capitalism trend. I wish the devs would show the People that they do the games TOO for the community. That they want to make them happy, give them a good game and enjoy the feedback for their performance. But Today, they just throw unfinished games to the players and take their last money with dlc’s too. DLC is the most pathetic trend which grow up in the last few years. You remember the time where Games was made with love which you could feel as you played them? Right, Super Nintendo.
Wow… angry gamers in this thread. At most half finished? There are a few glitches, but call me crazy: I’d rather have a few minor lag issues a most a few times per round where my character glitches forwards and the forward key not working sometimes when I come out of a command post as opposed to games like BFBC2 where the lag is so strong (on a 40ms ping server) that I’m getting shot and dying AFTER I round a wall. Or even worse, I put 2 clips into someone and the hit marker is up the whole time and their head is moving back from the bullets, yet they don’t die.
Brink’s not perfect, but to criticise it like as if it’s the only game like that is insane. ESPECIALLY as you say it’s a small dev team. Is DICE a small dev team? Is Infinity Ward? Is Treyarch?
If they sort out the lag, patch in local search for best connection and a party system, for consoles, then it will be great. I’m loving the game and although it ain’t pretty I can live with that.
I just fear that by the time its working 95% of the community will of traded it for something else.
The game is complete utter ****. I can’t even play the ‘campaign’ (which is totally not even a ****ing campaign) because of the massive FPS lag mixed with the sucky internet lag! I will NEVER buy anything from those guys again, unless they fix their ****.

The small dev team isnt the problem. Because if the small dev. team would be the reason why the game is unfinished, they couldnt fix all the problems now because they are still a small team. But as we see they can fix it, and they do fix it. Problem is, they fix it after the release of the game and not before.
I’m asking myself if they tried to play it even one time before they released it? There are so many bugs. There is a big list somewhere here in a thread, but even I had those bugs:
Game crashing when youre on desktop and game is in the background
Sound disappears on a map
The camera is rumbling sometimes in the moment where you are agent and taking the look from a dead body
You can’t just close the write box without write and send something
…and so on.
Then there are some features that are not in, which should be standard today. For example to have lobby before a Game starts. How often did it happen that you join into a game, see the intro video, and the game is already over? And you get big exp for just doing nothing. Or you come in and can keep playing the last 2 minutes of the game. Isn’t that bad but would be way cooler if all start together from begin. To find players should not be the problem at all. Then, it says only “custom” rules. You dont know what exactly the gamesettings are, maybe friendly fire? You will never know til you hurt your mate or get hurt by one. There is no Ingame Friendlist-Feature. (I know you can do it with steam)
This list could be endless long. The Game has a good background Idea and nice Characterdesign, but the assembly of the residual is horrible.
Finally the Gameplay feels like you’re playing a free to play shooter.
Innit. And what the hell is a ‘FoxEdge’ anyway? Is this guy trying to suggest I need penning in? Or is he fascinated with the chins and other extremities of these dear creatures?
Probably just too much Metal Gear.
I do love Metal Gear.

And here we have the problem, you just don’t like the game’s mechanics.
See, I love the game’s mechanics so I can look past the techincal issues /for now/. That SD are obviously on it (two patches released already) helps this confidence.
This game has awesome gameplay, but then I think it appeals to people with a little more imagination than your average gamer and that’s probably a negative in today’s market. It’s a shame, indeed.
Beta testing for the desktop is always hit and miss unless you go public beta since you only have access to a limited range of PC configurations so bugs will always get through on the PC version without largescale betas… A public beta would have been better, but public betas are crap these days since all the idiots think that beta = demo and that’s not true. A beta is MEANT to have bugs yet people play a beta, see problems and then tell everyone not to buy the game.
EDIT: Also the write box - press ESC if you don’t want to write anything.
And the game crashes when you have it minimised? REALLY? Wow I’ve NEVER seen a game do that before </sarcasm>. Games are memory/cpu intensive multithreaded applications… of course the’re going to run abnormally when you’re doing other things than running them.
EDITEDIT: FoxEdge. You complain that you get XP for being on a winning team when you join the game and it finishes? Most games give you reward for being on the Winning team in that scenario. You want the game to restart for EVERYONE if you join? You’re mad mate.

At first, it’s not “just”, because I wrote way more than “It feels like playing a free to play”, and the second thing is that the feeling of gameplay is not the same as game mechanics. For example the way like the “killed” ones fall down. Even CounterStrike Source had ragdoll, and it’s a 7 year old game. Or how it looks when u hit them with v while they are laying on the floor, to kill them finally. The animation looks unfinished. This are only examples, there are way more things that make it look like a free to play. But I never talked about the game mechanics. : P

No, I just said that it would be great to have a lobby where u can at least see how long the game is already running. And in the best case it would give the chance to join a game that is not already started. Maybe you should stop interpreting and start reading.

No, I never seen that before to be honest. I’ve been playing Starcraft 2, Aion, Counterstrike Source, Prototype, Dead Space, Mafia 2, GTA IV, Left 4 Dead 2, Dota, Warcraft 3, League of Legends, Warrock Online, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Call of Duty Black Ops, Bloodline Champions, Overclocked, Silent Hill 4 and homecoming, Dawn of War 2 and so on AND yeah, even super nintendo or nintendo 64 game with emulator. And guess what? Right, they never crashed when I switched to the desktop. Maybe GTA IV but very rare and this game was so bad developed that rockstargames allowed the people to get their money back in stores.
Ahh, well it would help to clarify with your initial posts so we know this kind of thing from the off.
In that case, I kind of agree. It would be nice to see a little more polish in terms of animation, but then I’m usually having too much fun to notice these things.
It’s not high on my list of wants, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t appreciate it.
You can be serious. The grid issue on pretty much any Radeon? Did they even run it on a box with an ATI card? Because I had the issue and everyone else with an ATI card as well. How this bug got into the final is beyond me. That alone screams “We had to throw the game out there”.
All glitches aside, so far I’m not too impressed with the way balance and features are handled. It seems there’s quite a few stitches dropped here and there. Oh well, still working on the list.
That alone screams “We had to throw the game out there”.
And yet it is untrue. The game has been in polishing for more than six month, now, according to the devs.

No. Hell with this. I’m sick of some of the recent games that stop and go to the lobby at the end of each game, killing the flow of the game and wasting my time. Modern Warfare 2 is incredibly annoying with this. Plus, lobby tend to lead people to leave the game and empty the server, and when you want to continue playing, you are left hanging.
Dedicated servers run all the time, that’s great and that’s the way it was and should be.
What’s your problem with joining a game that has already started ? I thought you said you were playing Counter-Strike…
A lobby system for teams would be appreciated, but hell, no way Splash Damage is ruining the game by setting a minute of bore between two matches.
There is no Ingame Friendlist-Feature. (I know you can do it with steam)
There is an in-game friendlist feature. It’s the steam friendlist. Just like in Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, Team Fortress 2. What more to you want ?
They lobby system is what Xbox users need, not want.
You do realize after every mission you go into a lobby and wait 45 seconds for the next match right? Where you vote for the maps etc?
This should be standard on the xbox. Its the best/only way for friends to get organized into their fireteams and join games together. Instead of joining a game in progress, tossing invites to your friends, and hoping they make it in. A fun FPS this does not create.
I think you missed what they meant by lobbies, every single MP game on the Xbox has MP lobbies. Every single one of them, for a good reason.
Don’t put lobbies in the game, and your Xbox fanbase is gone.

Yeah sorry if it was not clearly what I’ve meant
What’s your problem with joining a game that has already started ? I thought you said you were playing Counter-Strike…
Easy to explain: Counterstrike is a shooter where every round starts from new all 2-3 Minutes. There is just one task and nothing more. In brink you follow a Story. That means, the server is startig and everyone see the intro movie. Then all go for the first goal, there are a lot of tasks, people build up Cannons for defense and so on. It was escpecially really annoying at the moment where I did not know the campaign. They said, you’re able to play the whole campaign online. So why play offline? I started to play it online. I joined a server, saw the intro and suddenly the second video came, cuz the people had already reached the first goal. Or I came on a server and the game was already finished, so that I had to leave because I wanted to play the campaign level and not just see the End. Annoying too, to see the end of a level without playing it. This really sucks hard. So you better play the campaign offline, if you dont want to see the end of every level before you played it or in worst case did nothing.
Lobby system was just an idea, no criticism.
There is an in-game friendlist feature. It’s the steam friendlist. Just like in Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, Team Fortress 2. What more to you want ?
Something like in Starcraft 2. Add a person ingame, maybe with a little + for it next to the users name, invite him ingame and so on. And not shift+tab out to get a steamscreen ingame, add friend, type in his name exactly in and so on.
It’s not as simple as that. Notice how clan matches in games happen with low team numbers. Clan players would like you to believe it’s because it’s more tactical this way, but the main reason is that organizational problems increase exponentially with team size.
Coordinating something as complex as programming is not easier. Bigger team doesn’t always help.
The biggest problem with this game is fact that there is no lobby. A lobby is a very necessary part of every single multi-player game.
Not being able to start the multi-player campaign (co-op or VS) from the beginning of the “day” kills this game for me. I’m level 10 now, and i’ve still never started any of the levels from the beginning unless i’m playing solo, with all bots, and these bots are absolutely awful.
Also, i’ve yet to play a game where there are no bots, in fact i’ve yet to play a game with more that 3 human players per side.
The inclusion of a lobby would solve both of these problems at the same time.

yes, i’m mad.
