SD MADE THUNDA GREAT AGAIN

This is 3:48 A.M. Dawn in May 20th. KR time. after downloading 2.2GBs of updates, I tasted how good the 170HP and slow effects were with @sympatheticMotorcycle.

One of the main prob that conc had was slow effect was bugged that it some times worked or sometimes it didn’t, or even just Flashing people directly without any concussing.

Right now slow is 99% ~ reduce through the time, but the conc is damn crazy now. SLOW RATE IS NOT RELATED TO BLAST RADIUS, which means slow time only matters, but 99% slow rate isn’t. minimum 2.5sec 99% slow is WORKING VERY FINE right now, so that you just shoot almost dumb-struck targets.

THANK YOU SD, but I think this is quite OP right now with its crazy 15 sec cooldown.

I have to test this at Min level 20 server inviting high skilled Asia server players, but right now the slow is just plain stupid! Picking out non-flashed but slowed, or slowed AND flashed enemy is much better right now.

I’ve waited this for 2 years. Thank You SD. AHH THUNDA!!!

MA42 1st gen loadout AS ALWAYS.

I only use T45 at Ranked or important matches. MK.46 = THUNDA.

I do recommend you to use MA71 if you find yourself to vulnerable to explosives.

I’m not a fan of doubling down on the white out and concussion and removing the EMP. The 170HP is awesome, the ability to clear a room is nerfed in a lot of situations though which I dislike…all to give Phantom the EMP in virtually the worst way possible (melee range EMP as opposed to a ranged EMP).

I don’t like the change to Thunder or Phantom.

Also, I moved the thread to the proper forum. Please don’t put threads about mercs or weapons or things like that in General :slight_smile: I normally try to keep General clean but lately it’s been worse than usual for some reason.

The Reason why I think Thunder got so much better is

  • Conc’s Slow Working Properly = Probably the BEST.
  • Super Buffed Tough augment that you can immediately heal yourself up WITHOUT Medic.
  • Of Course +10HP, why not?

But I do agree with you too.

I have to check how good he is at high level games. May be match that I can play against you. Because yeah… EMP is really crippling. I tried to mow down super slowed enemy on the healing station today, but yeah… MK.46 is MK.46 even if I land all those headshots.

The Fuse time is way too shortened right now (1sec) that it is only for CQC right now, slowing targets right in front of you.

p.s. Outside of the topic, but I remember you are really good with Phantom. Try CR54 that has the Unshakable + Drilled + Spares with Crotzni, the DREAM AUGMENT SET loadout.

If you got banged directly then you are pretty much fucked, the slow effect is crazy good, i did back off (maybe not far enough) but still got a full stun, i did manage to dodge the flash by turning my head real quick a few time, but the fuse time is so short that it is really hard to do so, unless you saw Thunder put his flashbang out and prepare yourself for it, while get caught when your pant is down, not so much. But on the other hand, if you got naded directly by Fragger, then the outcome is pretty much the same. That is why i don’t know how to feel about this.

BTW, SD made THUNDA great again, i have not had this much fun for a really long time. Phantom also felt really neat tho.

Actually, below is what I’m going for as soon as I get home. The Blish is so good if you get some headshots out of it and when firing from stealth you almost always get the first shot or two as a headshot. So I fell in love with using the Blish on him. The card below is virtually my dream card (pistol and all). I only wish it had a knife instead of a bat since I like to be able to quickly gib people.

And part of the reason I don’t like the Thunder change isn’t because he lost his EMP, even though I do dislike that immensely, but that it’s trying to make the flashbang/conc much better. Which can be extremely annoying to constantly have in your face while playing.

Giving up the very solid EMP to double down on mechanics that make the game more annoying for everyone while making Thunder weaker against targets standing in a healing station or getting murdered by a turret while you try to clear a room just doesn’t strike me as a great way to “fix” him. The 10HP does more than anything in my eyes.

@Amerika, I just did a cobalt tradeup for Phantom right after the patch, got that exact card in fragment.
Sadly I do not like the Blishlok and none of the perks really.
Undercover got nerfed and for Phantom I’d much rather switch weapons to finish off an enemy than do a mid combat reload and I never liked Double time.

So umm… if you got a cobalt 1st gen C51, how about we wait for the trading option? :wink:

I weapon cancel using the method I learned from CS so I am perfectly fine with Double Time. It doesn’t take long to switch…might as well learn it if you ever want to play CS :slight_smile:

Was it specified if the flash effect was meant to hide ALL of the HUD elements with the update?
I’m still gonna take a few days before my final opinions on the Phantom and Thunder changes, but I feel like there is absolutely no use for the minimap anymore unless you’re playing a medic.

I’m really curious as to why the entire HUD is supposed to be hidden, I mean, sure we could all just play the game always without a HUD and memorize all of the values, but it’s a game.
It’s simply annoying and something for me to moan at.
Not being able to see the enemy health bar when targeting while blinded is completely fine as I most likely won’t be able to read the amount of shots hit just by sound when using guns with faster rate of fire, but the information I already had before getting flashed, I’d still like to see it on my HUD, even if it was in a frozen state.

The only reason this bothers me is because it covers up the minimap. Before the update I was at least able to somewhat guide myself towards teammates/cover while blinded thanks to the minimap(at least the times when it wasn’t hidden), but now it’s extremely difficult especially if might get a slight nudge from an explosive that will disposition me and I’m already off course.

The blinding is annoying at its current duration, but concussion now actually seems to have some value compared to before.

I was soooo happy about this buff. The MK-46 is EASILY my favorite gun and since it’s unlikely that Fragger will ever get it, Thunder was my only option. Now he is a good option.

I used to be able to blindly retrace my steps back to safety, but now that I get slowed, I can’t anymore, a much needed buff to Thunder, though maybe a reduced cooldown might help for balance now, Idk tbh as I haven’t played him yet

Miss the emp effect though, but now simular to Phantom i have easy pickings.

Seems to be a noticeable improvement, I’m more reliably getting kills, all they need to do is slightly buff the MK46’s damage.

Played against two guys using Thunder on a ranked match.

The amount of flashes were enough to give two guys epileptical seizures, and the movement penalty means you lose all control, which is imo not acceptable -all other special abilites are danger related, easing target identification, helping your team or ability-cancelling ones, like disabling healing stations or spotting people, this is the only ability that removes players control of what they do, and it’s a pretty bad thing on a game where it should be about skill-, as you’re a free frag up for grabs. Also, it can last for freaking 6 seconds. You can kill half the enemy team with one flash, and it doesn’t even need to be well placed, you only need to wait around a corner and throw it when you hear someone coming, with basically no way of countering this by the opponents -I tried looking away, still flashed. I got thrown it behind me, still flashed. I tried running the other way around, still flashed.

Also, the buffed HP means that they’re very hard to take down, but since they can still move a bit too fast for their HP and the animations are a disaster -specially strafing ones-, you can have jump-strafing thunders soaking all the bullets and still killing you, not mattering much if you hit all your bullets.

Basically, Thunder turned ranked into a boring flashfest, where it is far too easy to defend with and still easy to attack with -it keeps its speed so he’s still able to go places almost as fast as Fragger, nowhere near as slow as Rhino-, so if you play ranked, the enemy does have one or two Thunders, and no one of your team has one, you automatically lost, or the guy playing Thunder is extremely bad, as in started playing today.

So, all in all, it’s a merc that kills the fun you can get in the game by removing head-on 1 on 1s, and gets a free pass at slaughtering your team, with absolutely nothing they can do, no counter for a concussive grenade.
