I’d buy the Fallout pack
SD how about selling bonus pack codes?
I picked up the psycho from ebay and the guy who sold it me still has the code for sale so god knows how he is getting hold of them…
You can get them online if you want to pay enough. Google, baby. It will be I guessing in the neighborhood of $20. There are people who will buy a bunch of this stuff with the sole intent of selling it to make a profit, ya know! Man, the spec op looks cool, but NOBODY has the Psycho Pack and that make is rarer!
Honestly, I’d probably buy them all(minus the Spec Ops/Steam pack that I already have).
I just like having options, and I have no problem paying for optional, aesthetic DLCs. I really like Killing Floor’s method of adding weapons/maps/etc for free, and character packs for $2.

I think it is probably some kind of policy that they can’t release Pre-order codes as DLC. Remember, different sellers license/market the Pre-order codes for their retail floor as a marketing and sales generator. So essentially, if you were able to get the pre-order codes by any means other than by winning them/buying from a customer, you’d negate that licensing deal that the retailer had, whether it is Walmart, Gamestop, or Best Buy or whomever. It is part of the way stores are able to get customer traffic and sales. So, you can wish and one hand…
You might be able to win a code. Because the retail price of a game is fixed, the Pre-order bonuses are an incentive for you to pick the game up at a certain seller, and not another one. I am sure that the Marketing Dept in these stores tries to choose the Bonus Pack that they think will drive the most sales. Otherwise, Ebay or some re-seller site like that.
I got the physcho pack, most people who pre ordered from uk most proabably used GAME. I love it
They should also sell new outfit codes as “paid DLCs” and give us maps and more important stuff free. People are still always interested to buy the outfits.
Maps pretty much have to be free. Abilities, weapons and attachments can cost, but have to be careful with balance, and of coursemthose take coding and testing.
Skins and outfits are just aesthetics. The economics of getting some artists to make them and the distribution compared to the revenue, it seems like a no brainer.
I bet not a lot of people ordered on amazon. But I did so I have the psycho pack. It says in the guide that the silencer that comes with the psycho pack has no downsides in the guide but I think that’s probably a misprint.
I kind of think (and wish) publishers could sell the pre-order packs later, but as someone mentioned, probably prohibited by their agreements with the retailers.
I am quite fortunate in that I have all pre-order packs. I pre-ordered three different copies (giving two away to brother and friend) and randomly had an XBL friend give me the only code I was missing.
By way of new DLC I wouldn’t mind an extra skin for one or two of the assault rifles … it would be nice to be able to set up your favorite a couple of different ways.

I don’t know the specifics about the goings on behind the scenes, but all pre-order bonuses for Dawn of War 2’s most recent expansion are now available for purchase on Steam (despite being taken down in the past). An exception to the rule perhaps? I don’t mind pre-order bonuses too much, but when there is more than one set of bonuses from different stores, I have a problem. In such a situation you wouldn’t be able to obtain all the pre-order content by simply paying for the game early. In order to get it all, you’d have to obtain them through irregular means (buying codes from other people). This is bad practice, as it cheats us, the gaming community.
They should just follow what other companies usually do with things llike these. For example Mortal Kombat: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/klassic-kharacter-mortal-kombat/714328
Each costume was a pre-order bonus for as store. But now people can buy them all for some money.
Or you could buy all the game pre-orders like some are willing to do then resell the game or trade the game in. Gears of War 3 will have actual character skins that are ONLY available from select retailers and their pre-order. It is more of an industry thing. And as far as Dawn of War 2, I remember reading somewhere that that was a mistake? These are licensing deals that go down behind the scenes. Basically, Walmart doesn’t want you being able to get their code and game from Best Buy, they want you to buy it at Walmart! I bet the most sought after code, purchased code for Brink was at Walmart? Then either Best Buy or Gamestop. Then Amazon last? I think Gamestop was the first place that started doing Pre-order bonuses in games? Anyone know if this is true?
Did I preorder specifically to get Doom Pack, not really because I preorder at Gamestop regardless. But YES I preordered to get into the Gears 3 Beta! Also, publishers keep track of who pre-ordered and where, so it is a big marketing tool. It would defeat the point to turn around and offer it for any price later on. Gamers and customers will wise up and less would pre-order is the idea?

As I said, there was some backlash by the people who preordered Retribution. IIRC, it was because the release of the bonuses for purchase on Steam actually sold for less than the people had to pay at launch for the extra content. There is no mistake, the content is up again on Steam, and the packs are going for 99 cents a pop. Don’t recall what they were going for when they were first put up on the store.
i dunno i think it wasnt cool to give a scope a silncer and a gun to certain people, just because i will never get my hands on them, yes the psycho pack had by far the most content, as well aas the spec ops pack for sub machine gun and green eye. might have to just look these up and buy them
Yeah, the more I see those two packs, the sadder my Doom looks especially since I only use the doom shirt and its beneath a jacket! Oh well. I like creating a character anyway. It could be worse: I got a bunch of weapon skins and characters from playing the Gears of War 3 Beta. And those won’t be for sale. Would it be great to get this stuff as DLC: Of Course!!! I just am trying to be realistic here. There is a business model at work here.
I really wanted the fallout pack, I ended up with doom and I didn’t really want that. So I would say this is an alright idea besides robbing pre orderers of their glory.
