SD ET(main) Server Dead

(SwordOfDamocles) #1

I’m pretty sure that the SD server is dead now. By dead, I mean no one frequents it anymore.

I guess I’m just posting this cos I personally feel it is a shame that it had to die out due to unwillingness to move it over from etmain to etpro - and i guess the downtime at one period didn’t help.

Admins plz don’t take this as a rant at yourselves, more my opinion that if it doesn’t change to ETPro now, it will remain dead.

Saying that I guess you could always use the server for something else

Unless it changed IP and/or port it is actually dead (as in down) right now. I haven’t played there for ages, but I still have it in my favourites for some reason…

(Salteh) #3

evil :o
it seems to be down :o :o

(eq-Shrike) #4

Yep shame it doesn’t get frequented anymore … there were a good bunch of regs on … some very good games were had.

Some of the regs now visit the Nightwatch clan server …

Still it would be good to get etpro on the SD server to keep the home ground alive …

(Fusen) #6

they have said why they don’t want to put etpro on before  their loss tbh :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(eq-Shrike) #7

I think they said something about quiche and cats …

(Bongoboy) #8

The cats ate all the quiche.

:moo:

There homeground IS etmain. You think Activision would be happy that a partners not even running there own code on there servers… (and remind them why there paying them to create such…)

Just a presumption. I know I wouldn’t be…

(nUllSkillZ) #10

It’s there again.

Hmm, what about if some of the forum regulars “date” to play on this server.
I think it would be fun to meet there regularly.

(BondyBoy007) #11

I haven’t played on an ETMain server for a good while - I can’t go without the hitsounds anymore

(Cerebrate) #12

No offense to anyone, but who in their right mind would play etmain instead of etpro? The answer is obviously a noob (in the word’s true meaning). I haven’t played etmain since… I can’t even remember.

(eq-Shrike) #13

Please lay off the noob accusations - there are plenty of reasons why etmain is still fun. I too have gotten used to playing on etpro serves but I still don’t like the unholy amount of damage required to send a body into limbo in etpro for example. It’s not just noobs who still like to play etmain every now and then …

(nUllSkillZ) #14

I don’t look if it’s a stock / etpro / shrub server.
I only look for the maps (I love playing custom maps).
And for the No. of players on a server.

(Cerebrate) #15

So you admit that they mostly consist of noobs? Actually, as I said, I didn’t mean to offend anyone by saying that. “Noob”, to me, means “beginner”, and I think they are more inclined to go for etmain. At least it was that way; I suppose most servers run etpro now.

I don’t understand the notion about “unholy amout of damage” though. I find it much easier to frag people in etpro due to hitsounds. Elaborate, please.

(BondyBoy007) #16

he’s refering to the amount of damage required to put ppl into limbo, not fragging them in the 1st place

(Salteh) #17

pgh - if you use “there” instead of “their” one more time… I’ll have to eat you!

(BondyBoy007) #18

I was letting those go

(Fusen) #19

well for the more advanced players, they will most likely only play on etpro servers and seeing as most of the forum members have been playing for a good amount of time and are more than likely advanced players

(Sauron|EFG) #20

The thing that made the SD server great fun to play on wasn’t the name, it was the regular players. Like Shrike said a lot of them have found their way to the Night Watch server, so it’s pretty much like in the good old days (but with etpro).

GGs all NW, ABS, lsr and eQ guys (and everyone else) that were on there tonight.
