How do I remove those lines of Text that say “XXX Killed XXX” on the screen? Is it possible to be selective? As in leave the “Dynamite Planted at South Gun” type text alerts?
Scripting Q
I think you can turn off all notification with ‘cg_drawNotifyText 0’. I don’t think it’s possible to be selective about which notifies get drawn, but I’ve never tried setting it to anytthing other than 1.
Can I ask another question?
How do u make a script to dodge/dance? U know what I mean?
U’ve surely seen other players moving zig-zag randomly in a way that makes them almost impossible to hit.
Can u also compensate the aiming in the script for ur movements?
… or maybe I’m just seeing players using cheats :???:
Thanks fer any tips!
:???:
How do u move like that using a keyboard??? … and make headshots while doing this sprinting
5 feet up, 3 feet right, 7 feet left, 4 feet diagonal, all very fast, with no pauses … and player does exactly the same movement whenever pinned in a handgun fight … even forgetting aiming i could never move that crazy

ET console scripting simply isn’t capable of doing that kind of thing effectively. In particular, pretty much all user input is locked out when you run a script. Try to write some complex scripted movements, and you will see what I mean.
Ohhhhhhhh, ok.
… more homework … Ahaaaa!
Itz some sort of macro playback recorder in the input device (like keyloggers or macros and pre-programmed command buttons available with fancy joysticks). So it all happens before input reaches ET program. ET only sees AWDX key presses, etc. so the lamer can still provide user input while dodging.
I guess thaz not really a cheat then. Some people just have special hardware like special keyboards and drivers and pre-programmed commands.
No they haven’t done any of the stuff you mention, they have practised and played a lot. Do you think you can come up with a dodging scheme that will work in several situations? Remember, there are mostly obstacles in the way you know and you have no idea how the opponent/s will move. Some of those obstacles migth be used to your advantage. Further, to make a multikill, it might sometimes be a good idea to move so that your opponents line up, they can’t fire at you simultaneausly or they risk shooting teammates, if you miss the first player you might hit the second. A preprogrammed dodging scheme makes you unable to use surroundings, opponents actions, etc to your advantage. You will mindlessly move in the same pattern without learning anything.
Exceptions:
1 Yes, it seems cheats exist and they may have illegal help with aiming while concentrating on dodging like crazy, but it is much more likely that they are not cheating.
2 Someone may have such a preprogrammed scheme but they will not benefit from it except in some random cases and their development in close combat tactics is halted.
The zig zag dodging is probably nothing more than sprint strafing. Very hard to do with a keyboard but if you have a mouse with extra buttons that can be re-defined it makes it easier.
For example my MX700 has a thumb button which I have mapped to a key in control panel which in turn has been mapped to sprint in ET
In a firefight I just hold the thumb button and strafe - voila! (provided I have sprintbar of course)
Thats the best post in a looong time Shrike… I just might buy a new mouse (ol fashioned 2 button user here). Thx for the Tip!
Same here, my mouse thumb button is sprint, so left-right strafing + sprint is easy. No way you could ever script it and it be even remotely useful more than 1% of the time, cos scripts can’t react to events, movement type scripts are very frame-rate dependent and flaky to say the least, and of course every 1-v-1 is different anyway.
Err … yes they do. These r not ET scripts.
Almost exactly same as USB mouse thumb button strafing stuff others just posted about. … but a little more sophisticated than push thumb button for sprint. Some have auto cancel if u press a movement key while script is playing.
Sometimes dodging is exactly the same … lamers hit thumb button, foot pedal, or whatever hot key on the keyboard they’ve got connected to their key macro replay program. Others have it integrated with their 'bot =( so that they r harder to hit, but get head shots easy =(
Since u can still rotate while script plays, u can still have some control to adjust for opponents actions. Some even mix the script with ur keyboard presses. So while dodging using script, just press W to move forward … script keeps playing. Keyboard presses take precedence. If using something without keyboard override, then not always work … obviously better if no walls or obstacles. Also better if the scripted sprint dodging stays within smaller circle to avoid walls n stuff. bots can be smart and do this =(
These r macro replay things attach to input devices … not ET scripts … just like the thumb button on a mouse or command buttons on a joystick.
Still seems sorta like cheating … but where do u draw the line?
Thumb buttons on mice sound ok.
LAN parties rule … u can trade computers randomly … keeps every1 honest.
WTF?
bind MOUSE4 “+sprint”
that’s what Kendle is doing. You can assign this from the main menu. I fail to see how this is considered cheating or even marginally questionable (not that Kendle doesn’t have other questionable characteristics). Maybe I’m reading your post wrong, but you seem to firmly believe that people have these miraculous cheats that let them execute Jedi-like attack routines.
Maybe you just need a new keyboard. My keyboard can take multiple inputs. Amazingly, I can run, strafe left, sprint, AND jump at the same time, all while using my mouse to aim and shoot. \o/
Try writing a script like this for yourself and see what it does for you:
bind x “+moveleft; wait 20; +forward; wait 20; +moveright; wait 20; +backwards; wait 20; -backwards”
See how much control you have over your movement or ability to interrupt the script while it runs. Try holding down the x key to see how long you keep executing the script loop.
Interesting, in the eighteen hours from realizing it was possible to make macros outside ET for keyboards and mice you have done a lot of research and found out that many players use them. Further you have found out that some of these macros/bots? are smart enough to avoid bumping into walls, somehow they have all the boundaries of the maps stored and access to the xyz position of the player and access to xyz position of the opponent in the players fov to adapt the dodging scheme to all these variables. You have also found that some of them have aimbots. Impressive!
Anyway, I stated a few exceptions to the rule that they have practised a lot and become good players.
- They cheat with aimbots so they can concentrate on dodging or use a macro. I think you overestimate how common this is, also it is nothing you’ll want to do to improve yourself.
- They use such a macro for input devices. This will simply not be succesful in most cases. You will not improve yourself in the long run either.
Use of thumb-buttons or foot-pedals for e.g. sprinting is another story as you say. I found it affected my aim too much pressing both thumb and mouse1 simultaneously.
I’ve read too much recently where people try to come up with unsubstantiated explanations for why some players are really good other than the most probable one: they have practised and played a lot.
In 1 on 1 duells: I press my sprint key with my left “little finger” or whatever it is called in english (the left SHIFT key) while zick zacking using A and D. Then, suddenly, I crouch using my left thumb (on my left Alt button), while continue to strafe left (or right). All while firing at the opponents head. I always aim high (at the top of the helmet). My sensitivity is 0.7-0.9, and my pad is a huge cloth pad. Usually it’s over in less than 2 sec. and I reload.
(Btw, prone is … so unprofessional. Unmanly. I never do that. Why should I? I’ve never seen Clint E. prone in a duel.)
Script? There’s no script involved. Seriously. Try to be more postmodern in your thoughts: There is no grand conspiracy or hidden agenda.
I end with a quote from an excellent ET player and trick-jumper. It says it all: “Thats just good movement by the player.”
// Loffy (your duel guru)
(OK, he had protective gear in Fistful, but I believe it was because he had reached Level 4 in engineering.)

Hmm…I just tried it…doesnt seem to work?
i can see some people using macros or whatever to have some automated dodge, largely because i know how f**king silly some people are.
Dodging properly isnt just moving around as fast as possible, the only hard part is anticipation + reaction. Pressing the sprint key + left/right while aiming with the other hand is hardly a major task, if you find it tricky finger work then consider remapping your keybinds.
