Satchel charge bug?

Some times when you throw out a satchel charge, it automatically switches to your weapon rather then the detonator. I think it does this when an enemy is around and looking at you. I guess the reasoning (if this was on purpose) was that if you threw down a satchel, you would want to have your gun out to shoot the enemy or something… even though when I throw down a sachel charge by an enemy it is usualy in order to destroy them…

I have auto-switch weapons off so it shouldn’t be messing with my weapon selection. Definetly needs to be fixed, because it has gotten me killed a few too many times when I could have easily detonated it. Of course, not a huge problem but still an annoyance.

I agree. This is very annoying. Durring the test map it always switched to the detonator after throwing the satchel. It needs to be switched back to the way it was.

Seems to me that this affects the engy planting dynamite too. On several occasions I’ve been surprised to find a gun instead of pliers in my hand after dropping the dynamite. I’m not entirely sure it’s not something I’m doing… not easy to reproduce to test theories :frowning:

I would prefer if it always switches to the detonator/pliers. Now its unpredictable to which weaponbank you will switched.
I often lost my disguse this way: running past a command post, droppping a satchel, activating the detonator - but !no! I was switched to my gun and fired a shot, lost my disguise and got killed.

sometimes it switch to machine gun instead of pliers

i think this is because when you place a charge and your meter is all the way depleted it automatically switches… just like when you run out of ammo with your primary you automatically switch to hand gun…

Ahh, that might be it. But it is still silly that it would do that for satchels because they don’t take any power to detonate (unless I missed something…)

I HATE autoswitches and autoreloads too, I don’t want the thing to switch unless i tell it too. I would rather see an option implemented for the autoswitch behavior like they have for the out of ammo autoswitch. if the option was off then you would never get an autoswitch to pliers / detonator ect, if it was on then you would.

It doesn’t switch to pliers because you run out of power. It doesn’t take power to arm dynamite, plus at the beginning of the game, it takes 100% of your power bar to throw down dynamite, and it doesn’t always do it. I’ve noticed that if you step backwards after throwing it, it won’t switch to your gun. I’m not sure if that would always work, though.
