Salt management

(SaulWolfden) #1

How exactly does one properly manage salt as to not find themselves giving up after maybe a week of playtime? I’ve been playing this game since July 2015 and I still have no idea how I’m supposed to keep any sanity. Usually I just take a 3-4 month break, come back for a week, get reminded why I don’t stay, and leave again. Oh and the reason I give up is because of all of the useless medics, selfish fire supports, engineers that don’t do the objective, etc I encounter.

Edit: My playtime is around a low 420 hours, mostly because of said breaks I take.

Instead of bitching how awful all the people are, I’ll just got good and do everything by myself now.

What I do is try to not take the first game or 2 too seriously, try to get a feel for the lobby.

If there’s decent people in the game, I’ll run with medic / engi / support (ev) or nader / fragger for entry’s.

If everyone is a potato or just plain selfish I’ll just kill everything that moves, there’s no point healing people so that they can die over and over, and there’s no point planting if the rest of your team is looking at a wall back in spawn or trying to cod-scope.

Of course it’s more fun to win, but if that’s just not possible I find it amusing to go 40/10 while the rest of the team is 2/19.

I only stay in a lobby for 2-3 matches if that. One game is usually enough to tell me what to expect, this only applies to Execution with matches played or Objective in general (despise Stopwatch). Consistently somewhat balanced matches will get me to stay in a lobby. Balanced to me is a match where at least the first objective is accomplished and the entire match is giving and taking between both teams. Sometimes the attackers are winning, sometimes the defenders are. Win or lose, those matches are satisfying.

I tend to do something similar, I’ll play pretty heavily for a week, then take a month break and just cycle through games like that. When I’ve been playing for 2-3+ hours consecutively I tend to start getting salty, the best tricks I’ve found is to really try not to care. Here’s a couple ideas:

Choose your most fun mercs (not necessarily your favorite mercs, I love Arty, but playing well with Dreiss is too stressful to keep up for me) and just go ham, forget the objective if you have to, just see what you can do.

Set yourself up for failure, I like to start out play sessions with only using pistols sometimes. If I do poorly I don’t beat myself up about it, cause I know I’m handicapped, so it gives me a chance to warm up. Knives work too.

And these can be useful to just do one maybe two matches after you’ve been at it for a while. It’ll give you a chance to cool off. And don’t yell at people in chat, you’ll just stress yourself out.

This is a real Signature.
EDIT: I haven’t posted in a while, I guess I need to figure out a new way of making a sig. This is gonna be difficult difficult lemon difficult.

Use the server browser and try hopping on the Min Level 10 or 20 servers, if they are populated. The players there have somewhat better clue on how to play the game. (Not always though…) Also try to learn to like Stopwatch, there’s a noticeable difference in player skill on SW servers compared to OBJ servers. At least this is the case on EU servers.

The reason I don’t like Stopwatch is because I don’t want to be playing a match like that for as long as those last and also because I don’t usually encounter balanced matches. If I’m on a team with the type of people I described or the other team’s lowest scorer is basically higher than topscorer on our team, it’s for the equivalent of two matches instead of a single match which is double the salt.

That mostly works other than when I die to stuff like Proxy mines I long jumped over. Kira is pretty much the merc to go with since I can pistol, katana, and lazer everyone.

Just seal the holes

Abbadon
Abaddon

(Your worst knifemare.) #9

A. Be a medic and let anyone whos bad + over lv 20 die
B. Use 1 of my many stiletto loadouts on Kira and try stabbing everyone before shooting them
C. Terrorize 1 random player on the enemy team with lasers.
D. Use Bush, only worthy teamate is turret now

(ostmustis) #10

stop expecting so much from your team

(watsyurdeal) #11

Fapping, lots and lots of fapping

(Sorotia) #12

How do I manage my salt? Simple…I just don’t use much…sometimes I like putting a little salt on my mashed potatoes…but generally I don’t use it much.

(TheStrangerous) #13

Use lots of water, it will dissolve.

(The_True_mo) #14

Get gud and carry.

(frostyvampire) #15

Wait what? Only now I realized I’m not the only person on my team.
Kinda hard to notice you have teammates when you main sniper and act like an objective specialist

First, you NEED to sort out regular salt and kosher salt. Too often people mix these two and get horribly bland fiid, or satanically salty ones.

Second, Dirty Bomb is a competitive game, but as many other forum members has pointed out: DB is also rather fun. Judging by your description of yourself, you seem to have giod aim. Just grab Vassili’s arse and get sniping in 8v8 casual servers.

Redeye* I actually forgot how to use his GSR after running around with Kira and Fragger. Even on the Gen 2 loadout, that beckhill knife of his is pretty effective.

Redeye, beckhill knife

“That’s not a dagger!”
*Whips out Katana Phantom
“THIS is a dagger!”

An 8v8 is not a casual server, it’s a STAMPEDE :disappointed: Who on earth recommends grabbing a sniper on an 8v8 server, everybody is always in your way :stuck_out_tongue:

When salt levels begin to rise: Play Phoenix on any pub server. Stomp face, don’t feel bad.

My life is happier when I don’t try to win.
