Sadly, the community is (getting) really toxic

(Phantomchan) #41

I really hope so aswell

Also regarding the teabagging, I laughed my ass off when I didn’t know about the T-bagging sound stuff. So when I T-bagged a Phantom because he tried to kill me X times and I killed him all of the times, I decided to T-bag him. Suddenly I heard Sparks saying “Oh yeah” and laughed my ass off.

(Destroy666) #42

Since when are mad whining kids and other immature people a news in computer games?

A bad theory IMO (well, for some people it may be true I guess, but definitely not most), Phantom was simply too annoying to deal with before the recent patch. I personally didn’t dislike him that much, I hate getting randomly one shotted by Vasilis much much more, I don’t care they do it from distance.

(BioSnark) #43

People hate getting 1shot and feeling there’s no way they could have reacted better to avoid it, regardless of range. People also hate getting killed by a weapon requiring much less skill than what they’re using.

I haven’t noticed much toxicity, outside of everything relating to phantom. I only recall one incident of a person trying to provoke everyone with constant allcaps hate and he was completely unsuccessful in getting a reaction and left quickly.

This is actually very, very true.

I’m not sure about that theory.

I bet you it’s also about having no control over your death. People wouldn’t adjust their play style when facing a phantom. So when you constantly die to one, you start to hate it. Play style rigidity also made so many players mad against martydom. They can only blame their mistakes for their death, yet they blame the merc instead.

In fact, I think that’s why a lot of people leave games. The feeling of having no control over the ability to win or not being able to kill someone. It’s pretty clear the tolerance is pretty low, too. All it takes is 2 minutes of a challenging objective to have a few players quit the team in a pub game. (Or a few marty deaths to make a nader OP post in the steam forums. )

To put it bluntly, people are THICK as pig *****! The world is soo COD orientated now, they believe they should go on a game and be GOD.

We don’t like this merc which was released 1 minute ago because he killed me 10,000,000 times. We don’t like this patch because we’re not used to it and can’t play anymore… We don’t want to have to adjust, we just want to PWN N00BZ…

Stupid, I have seen posts on this forum about a recent patch update only 1 hour from it being released because they don’t like it! Get used to it! Not likely they’re going to change their minds because you complain you don’t like it. I admit, the recent patch isn’t great, but, it won’t help crying like little baby, stamping your feet on the ground because you don’t play very well anymore!

STFU and just play the game.

What gets me is, there are some really good players on these games. But because they’re passing a threshold others can’t, they think they can make it better too! Which is FALSE! You are playing this game and not making it because you do not possess the skill to make a game like this! Let the devs do what they’re good at!

Even a ****ty game is better than what the person complaining about it can do!

why don’t these sissies talking about language take their complains to the streets ?
please go educate people in the subway, football, wherever …

and stop using it as excuse for censorship, kicking or banning.

(Ashog) #49
And more recently in DB:- “You are only good because you use config”.
I actually agree with the last one. I hope devs do listen to this and reduce the cfg bs to mere bindings. Especially when someone says lel!
love things like this, remember the old donkey braying on RTCW when you backstabbed someone (think it was shrub mod) :D
Yeah, but I think it was actually a sheep sound. Mmeeh-eheh-eeeh!

(Protekt1) #51

Trash talk isn’t great, but communities can become way more toxic than just using words.

Yes, because someone who doesn’t like trash talking, he is immediately assigned the sissy tag. Your logic is infallible. Wouldn’t surprise me if you were one of the people who spout the most vulgar language ingame for no reason.

(Tanzverbot) #54

I don’t understand at all how anyone can let themselves get riled up by what some complete stranger says to them on the internet with the sole purpose of getting exactly that reaction.

(ispellcorrectly) #55

There are plenty ‘trolls’ even on these very forums!

(Ashog) #56

zomg tanz lives?!

Well, I must confess I do sometimes get riled up, just because I hate vulgar offensive language from a person I don’t know. I usually treat the people I first met with equal respect and I expect the same from them. Jokingly using the same language to some extent to some mates I know is another story. There’s no more enjoyment than to call Kleppy once in a while a camping kacknoob or rocketnoob pussy for a matter of fact

(edxot) #57

it may have happen from time to time, but be aware that i had plenty of reasons, hahahaha

for me, the trash talk is like the ultimate gold. something above game rewards or victories.
things like “good shot” are just part of psycological warfare. and things like “F U” are the real medals.

that post i made, may have looked directed to you (who started the post) but it was not. i dont even know you. i had other people in mind. i was thinking of all the situations in the past, where i have seen people use this excuse to take actions that were really unjustifiable.

(alphabeta) #58

I’ve seen sewage lagoons in feed lots that were less toxic

+10

I never played as rocketnoob
