After 2 years of work and more than 850 code revisions it is finally ready. The first public playable version of return to castle wolfenstine mod makes cooperative play possible.

All single player levels are modified for cooperative play (up to 8 players). We added extra enemies, updated the skill levels so that its still a challenge to play this game.

There are three gametypes:

  • Coop: Normal rtcw but in cooperative mode, very fun with friends.
  • Battle : sort of 1vs1 but still in coop. The point of this mode is that at the end of the map you have the best statistics (out of three). The recorded statistics are: damage given / damage received ratio, deaths and points. The player who scores the highest on at least 2 of the three wins. Important to know, you start the game with only one gun and you have to buy weapons, ammo and health. Buying something costs points. Your points can be below zero, but if you are at below zero at the end of the map you can’t win :slight_smile:
  • Speedrun: Play a level as fast as possible, fastest time is saved on the server

Features:

  • maxlives
  • Respawning bots
  • Extra enemies
  • server admin commands
  • teleport
  • 3 spawnpoint types: autosave, manual saving of your location, and a system like in rtcw multiplayer with spawnzones that need to be activated with flags.
  • New death screams
  • New interface
  • and ofcourse a ****load of bugs :wink:

Nice one, will see if can try it out on weekend.

However, shouldn’t there be bit more than 4 lines of text for your first release? You’re not really selling the mod much to gain interest. :slight_smile:

I’m sure there are people who’d gladly make banners and logo’s for you to use and make fancy screenshots or videos so you can show off.

Hmm, I have problem…

I have started the mod through rtcwcoop.exe, but when I’m in the main menu it’s lagging like hell…

Yes, but there is another problem: When I try to create a new server on Escape the game is freezing and it’s not loading the map and I must shut it down through the Windows Task Manager…

fretnn, do you know why when I start a new listen server the game is freezing and it’s not loading the map?

Nope, the game just freezes (Not Responding in the Windows Task Manager) and that’s happening every time when I try to start a new server.

The other problem is that when I’m in the main menu, there is a strange lag.

What windows version are you using ?
and is it 32 or 64bit

Windows 7 x32, but I don’t think that it’s something from Win 7, because the normal game is working perfectly.

I recorded a demo to see for what I’m talking about.

Thanks guys. There are a lot more work to do, but i had much fun until now. Unfortunately my server crashed two times.

yes sorry for all the crashes, but it was impossible to catch most of them when we were making everything, if it crashes, tell me what you did, so I can reproduce it an fix it

jacKfIsher05: when it happens, can you open the console and type /playerstart close it again, move the mouse to the bottom right spot (where the yellow arrow is normally) click a few times around that place, type /playerstart again and also /cg_norender 0
sometimes this helps
Also try to start a game in a different gametype (speedrun or battle for example) and let me know if this works or not

No worry about the crashes, it is still a beta, and it is no easy task to get them fixed. It was a fun ride, and that ist what counts. :slight_smile:
