Hey I’m thinking of buying RTCW on Steam. I’m just curious as to if the Multiplayer is functional and such. Also will I be locked into a specific version?
I’d also like to know if possible what version is the most active/has the most players?
I’ve never really played Wolf MP in the past when I had the game many years ago. I’ve always just stuck to ET.

At the moment, PB dropped support like for ET, and the Master Server list isn’t back yet but should be “soon”; You need just a key generator and a RtCW tracker I think 
Also, on 7, the SP can requires modified EXE/DLL files to run correctly, I don’t have the links, but surely if ailmanki or other RtCW people see your thread they’ll post it
Yeah I knew about the dropped PB support for ET, I dealt with that quite some time ago. As for the Master List, according to the front page that’s back up: http://www.splashdamage.com/content/936/wolfenstein-et-master-server-back-action
On the bright side I’m still using good old Windows XP (If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!) so hopefully I won’t have too many problems.
Although I have done some digging and found several Wolf: MP Servers still up. Although many of them differ in their version, thus my original question still pops up again…

I’m not sure about 1.4x, but I’ve heard it isn’t that active as it used to be.
I play the 1.0 version which still has some kind of community, there are 5 popular euro servers and some american servers.

The most popular game mode on 1.0 is TeamDeathmatch where everyone is medic and plays on Base.
The hitdetection isn’t that great and we’ve got no form of anticheat thanks to the lazy and reluctant admins. (I’ve offered solutions)
For what it’s worth it, I still enjoy playing from time to time when I’m not getting ‘owned’ by warpers or cheaters.
However, I heard people still play tournaments on 1.4.
Hmmm… I might buy it someday… But for now I guess I’ll stick to good old ET. Thanks for the information though!
There are a few popular v1.4 servers as well, e.g. ECGN, All-Stars, Sandmod and MadHouse (some running PB).
Main problem is the lack of master server, so you have to rely on other sources o get the server IP’s.
