rtcw:ET linux problem

(naiko) #1

hi,

we’re trying to install the et bins on a remote linux box, but we allways get these errors.

[@*:~]$ sh et-linux-2.55.x86.run
Verifying archive integrity…Error in MD5 checksums: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e is different from f76b8599439dd882a52ba038d4700edc

we do have the right bin, we even downloaded it from 6 different locations.

maybe we’re noobs in this, so please enlighten us.

thanks for the cooperation.

Are you downloading directly onto the linux box or are you uploading from yours?

(naiko) #3

we have access to the box, we’re using cmd line to download the file. we used fpt, wget, ncftp, all with the same error in MD5 checksum

(duke'ku) #4

Uhh… try cURL? :lookaround:

(naiko) #5

curl ? never heard of that cmd, how do you use that?

(duke'ku) #6

Just another command line dl program like wget… :expressionless:

(naiko) #7

did that

I can think of two senarios:

  1. The archive is corrupt. Since it looks like you’ve downloaded the archive
from sevaral independant sources with different tools, this doesn’t look very
likely unless some other force is at work on your system corrupting your file
    (e.g. filesystem full)

  2. The md5sum or bash program is broken on your system. I’ve never seen this happen before, but I suppose it’s possible.

You can eliminate senario #1 by copying the archive from this machine to
another linux machine and running: ‘sh et-linux-2.55.x86.run --check’.

thanks for that info,

we gonna try to do that asap, but since we’re in the middle of our exams, that could take a few days
