RTCW CD Key Banned bug/problem

#1

Game: RTCW
Box: RTCW Platinum Edition (including ET) with the ET soldier on front cover.
Interest/Reason to buy RTCW: ET is so damn good.

I bought RTCW 2 years ago, just to see what ET was based on. And also I wanted a good looking box for the game ET. Its silly to want a DVD-cover I know, but that is not the issue here.

Problem: I cannot play RTCW MP! When connecting through ingame browser, or throug ASE, I get first “INVALID_CDKEY”, and then when trying another server 1 minute later, I get “YOU ARE BANNED”.

And as a buyer of this game, I just want to say thanks, and whine a little, and hope someone here on this forum knows how to help me. I have googled (only a little), and also searched the rtcwplanet forum, and some there on that forum say its a bug, and can happen if you connect from 2 computers with same IP.
But nobody has my cd-key, and only 1 PC is connecting to a RTCW server. My RTCW MP worked just 6 months ago… yes I havent played RTCW MP for 6 months… I’ve been busy with ET.

Whine: Uuughh. :frowning: :disgust:

Im not in the mood for google my ass out, for finding out how to solve this bug so I can play my game I have freeking bought. So you heroes here plz help.

Bah. I have check theese out without good result:

LOL? When I check in-game menu for cd-key, there was ANOTHER cd-key that was not mine! And it lacked the last two numbers also. WTF where did that come from. Ughh…
When I (re)installed RTCW yesterday I did entered the correct cd-key inside DVD-case.

Anyway… wierd problem. Problem solved. I get into RTCW servers now. Yay weepeedoo

Just a thought: be extra careful when you buy used hardware. One common way to get rid of banned hardware is to… sell it.

JBRAA: The last two numbers are never displayed, they are just used when you enter the key.

Yeah, it’s only a checksum used to validate the cd key after it’s been entered, since the correct cd key check is not in the client code for obvious reasons.
