My friend and his brother both like to play ET, but they can’t play at the same time on a server. They are behind a Linksys BEFSR41 Router. Does anyone know what is causing the problem and/or how to fix it?
Router problem
You need to set up ET to use different ports for each computer. Add +set net_port XXXXX in your shortcut:
“C:\Program Files\Wolf - ET\ET.exe” +set net_port 27960
Use unique port numbers on all computers (27960,27961,279662…).
They don’t get a “CD Key in use” when the second person tries to join do they?
I’m thinking that they file shared the same download.
I have the same router, no problems when peeps come over.
No, when my friend joins a server and then his brother does, it just d/c’s him.
Thanks, that worked. Cheers :drink:
Nope.
I got a CD-Key in use error when trying to play RTCW on two computers. So you really need to buy a seperate copy of wolf for each computer? :blah:
Really? I installed it on two computers on my LAN and it has always worked.
You need unique CD keys to play on the same server (actually, with RTCW you need one CD key per computer you install it on in order to not break the EULA).
With ET the CD key is generated automatically, so you don’t get this issue unless you copy the installed game instead of running the installation on each computer.
