Rollercoaster Challenge

And there is the update… with the magic R of rolleRcoaster.

Concept:
2 Rollercoasters near each other. 1 Axis rollecoasters and 1 Allied rollercoaster. The one who kills the enemy wins.

An idea of Isbowhten, realised by Wezelkrozum.

The map will be aviable in the map Rollecoaster Challenge, but will also be aviable in the minigames map of Wezelkrozum. The minigames map will give this an other interface. (The minigamesmap contains tic tac toe, the rollercoaster challenge and bomberman. Other idea’s are welcome, mail them to: wessel_kroos[at]hotmail[dot]com .)

Edit : the roller coaster looks pretty cool - will have a try when its ready

Neat idea for a sniper map, but it is too bad that Q3/ET does not include the physics of centrifugal forces. If it did loops would be easy. I suppose you could fake it somehow (g_gravity changes on the fly, invisible clips) but I doubt it would come out all that well. But if you succeed I will nominate you for the award of the Vomit Comet (it just a honorary title, since nobody wants the stinking cup of… :wink: )

Is it correct, that gravitation of et is always in same direction?
Well if so, and if it can’t be changed from a map, then just rotate the hole map… Well limited possibilites due to more then one player moving around… but well… some effects are possible that way.

Too bad ET only lets you attach a player to one tag in game like the gunner in a tank - otherwise you could have the loop work with a gunner in each car and he should stay in when he’s upside down.

After a driver crash because of me I lost all my files in ‘my documents’. (A lots of pictures) I couldn’t see anything on my monitor so I decieded to do a system recovery. With the results that I must have to reinstall all my programs. I think becuase all the programs are linked to a file in the ‘my documents’ directory. Enough explaining, I will show you the current state of the rollercoaster (which was saved :p):

Things to do:

  • finish the frames in curving rails
  • path in the looping
  • script the path of the car
  • add a second rollercoaster
  • add some decoration to the rollecoaster
  • release the level

hm… i cant see a corkscrew xD ( would be nice if you can do one , but i also tried to do one but wasnt able to … if possible … perhaps a corkscrew)

Could be done. But I think it will be hard to turn the car to the left or right.

Edit: Wait! I think it’s possible. You can also turn a turred. So if we attach the car to a invisible clip we can turn the car every way we want to.

cant you rotate a script_mover even if it is moving?
i dont thinkt that it is necessary to tag it…

I was fan of rollercoasters from my 7th till 13th. So I did my talk about rollercoasters at my first school. I have played all the 3 Rollercoaster Tycoons and other rollercoaster building games. And I drawn a lot of rollercoasters. In short: I know a lot about rollercoasters because I was addicted to them :P.

By the way, 5 juli I’m on holiday in France. I will draw some sketches about the brakes and the safety fences and the other parts of the rollercoaster.
