We will see…, after my holiday
Rollercoaster Challenge
Hmm you might not really like this, but I’m working on a rollercoaster too…
(didnt know you were making one too! I was like why didnt anyone get this idea yet!)
Here is a screenie:

I added you on msn. We could join our forces together and help eachother out
wow guys very nice !!
i’m very existed to see this (these) map(s)
great work
(and plz combine forces, would be so cool XD … 'cause i like the caves in the second coaster)
It seems fun to go on a rollercoaster, while blasting everybody away
Seems like a nice funny map
I hope both rollercoasters become nice!
BTW nice corkscrew!!! I wouldn’t ever been able to make such turns with a brush Oo
The curves are done with ‘patches’ -> curved brushes
@shagileo I love the caves too
they are handmade… took me friggin’ ages
How are you guys going to handle the fact that ET Player can’t do upside down in the loops?? Or can they…
I mean, wouldn’t the invisible clipping kill/crush the ET model when it goes upside down at a speed?? Or am I missing something here, do they actually ride the rollercoster?
I think they use tagent or sth, but i really like to see how that will work in an upside-down way.
Bump
Did any one get a script mover to work in a vertical loop?
My model flips 180 degree as soon as it reaches certain point of the loop, seems to be once it goes past been vertical, it happens once on way up and then again on way down returning to the original angle.
EDIT: Managed to split the loop into 4 quarter sections and at the point where it would flip I use “roll 180 0” which counters the flipping but you see it flip twice in split second and is very noticable.
EDIT 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFWI4XzyDvE clip showing the glitch.
Try “faceangle 180 0 0 1” (is done in 1 millisecond)
End else I think your models origin is placed wrong.
Nice vid chr1s. If all else fails you could justify the Airplane’s motion jerk with an explosion (of AA flak) at that point. (or hide that point in clouds…)
I tried the face angles but doesn’t help much, also tried using the models used for stock script movers and same happens to them.
for me it works fine with roll 180 0, it also stucks for a milisecond, but it looks better than yours. iirc once i tried to use a second attached model which was already turned 180 degree so i switched them with the setstate command, but i cant remember if it worked better.
Edit: hm well sometimes it stucks longer, actually like yours ^^
do you think he wants to do a movie?
i thought he is working on a map…
btw what happened with this rollercoaster idea? do i have to build my own one?
Managed to minimise the jitter using your idea of swapping models.
And yeah this will be for a movie although I’m working on similar scenario for the scene from theme mapping competition which only involves horizontal flight.
Sorry for double post but here video of a full loop with the flip bug left in:
For some reason the flip on the return is more noticeable than the one of the start for the loop.
