Riot Shields (ATTN BADMAN)

(Jess Alon) #1

Or Exedore.

Do you have to be holding a pistol to use a riot shield (And the shield replaces your knife?) or is it some sort of ballistic tactical shield that is mounted on rifle type weapons?

While we’re at it. I’m going to assume bayonets will only work with ARs and probably the maximus??

Weapon Shields – Take cover from enemy fire and prevent headshot bonus damage behind riot-style shields.

“Weapon Shields” implies to me they’ll be mounted above/around the barrel of heavier weapons. Army of Two style. Could help to reinforce the role of the heavy body type as a tank.

(its al bout security) #3

it sounds weapon mounted as before

(felismenari) #4

Brink needs weapon adjustments more than it does new guns or attachments, but the additional content is welcome. If such changes are coming along with the new content in June, then hell yeah. I do wonder about the limitations of the weapon shields. If they can be attached to ARs, then mediums will be able to use them unless there’s a heavy-only stipulation. If mediums will access to them, there will still be very little incentive to play as a heavy unless the heavy-only weapons receive adjustments.

It has been confirmed by the devs that gotlun for example gets an boost and carb9 a nerf… those will become available next tuesday. Happy?

Secondary weapon would be the coolest, further illustrating the difference in bodytypes.

(Kurnuttaja) #7

yes if true

(Stormchild) #8

I can easily see it as a main weapon replacement, so heavies can still have AR with shields, for example.
Or something that lower your mobility, and heavies being already not very nimble, would be less affected in the end.
Maybe a heavy weapons-olny attachment for extra protection (while shooting only ?).
Useful extra-protection while doing a patch-boosted Gotlung sweep.

(Overgear) #9

Be great as a main weapon replacement that blocks slides too. A security could crouch in front of the Container City gate and stop most the resistance getting through :stuck_out_tongue:

(BiigDaddyDellta) #10

Yeah, I believe it’s going to be Army of Two style riot shields.

(Smokeskin) #11

Is that this coming tuesday, or the week after that?

(BiigDaddyDellta) #12

Good question, prolly with the DLC.

(weeschwee) #13

i don’t want them to just nerf and boost certain weapons. some weapon categories need to be reworked altogether. and lights should be able to use assault rifles. giving them only smg’s only makes the smg’s more used. i want to experiment with the assault rifles more, but i like the speed and mobility of lights. and if smg’s are op compared to assault rifles, why shouldn’t rifles be available for lights?

(brbrbr) #14

but thats require more attention to character animation than present state of Brink shows. actually less than ETQW somewhat.
for similar reasons characters customization so limited[few skin tweaks and alike ? pff].
but yes, im strongly agree, thats both free-look implementation and two-hands firing[by separate pointing devices?for both each hand and movements, ie 3x total] could be wonderful feats.

(jazevec) #15

I won’t be surprised if … heavy weapons are the only ones that can’t attach riot shields.

(RobotJoe) #16

Yeah I agree, in fact I think they should allow lights to use every weapon available in the game so we have no reason at all to use the other two body types!

Here’s an example:

Made me chuckle.

(felismenari) #19

…is it wrong of me to want one of those?

(wolfnemesis75) #20

Nope. Its not wrong. Shields do make sense for Security in the context of the story.
