the rifle nades are an unusual one. I play with them a lot and they have saved my hide on many occasions. I do agree that you start with a lot more nades than you should. I think maybe 3 would be more appropriate.
As for the newb approach to using them, yes they can be dangerous, but so can the panzer. And grenades are much shorter range than that thing.
In addition, there is a skill element to them. An experienced grenadier can launch them into very unusual places, making it easier to prevent the opposition from “digging in”. A really good grenadier can pinpoint drop rifle grenades at very long distances, but it requires a lot of skill and practice - something the panzer simply does not require.
As mentioned above, if you meet a rifle grenade in a tight space, then you are both going down. If you see one in the open, it’s very easy to avoid. I tend to use the rifle grenades as a “drop shot” weapon to pick off snipers and MG42s. Sometimes when I have a nade on my weapon and meet someone I have no choice but to fire it - it’s them or me and I’m not about to spend 3 seconds unloading the nade just to be “fair” to my opponent.
In my experience the only people who have complained about rifle grenades have been those that complain about every weapon except the SMG. And these are usually the people that you see standing around in spawns handing out ammo or health so they can get XP instead of fighting the battle. What do they want - for every person in the game to use only SMGs? It’ll be the MG42s coming under fire next. Then nobody should be allowed hand grenades because they are too dangerous. And heaven forbid someone should be allowed to steal someones uniform…
Too many people complain about a weapon without bothering to learn the technique to defeat them. They all just want one on one firefights with SMGs - newsflash people: this isn’t quake!
