Here’s the long yet not very entertaining story, with not much of a point. Read at your own risk.

A usual night of ET. I join a server and decide to go Field Ops and help out my team by spamming. I’m doing well. After a while I get a couple tk’s, as most field ops do. No biggie, no one complains. The next tk I get some guy complains. Ok not a big deal once again.

The next air strike I throw lands close to the enemy spawn. It kills the same ass master and he complains again. He’s a Covert Ops, so he’s gonna be mixed in with the enemy. Now I’m kinda pissed. He is doing it against everyone who tk’s him.

I try voting him off. No go. He’s obviously pissing a lot of people off because the vote is close. His no votes were all on the other team no doubt. Then I decide I’m gonna get him to tk me to teach him a lesson. The problem is I’m not that smart. I switch to covert ops, because that is the class that gets tk’d the most. I got him to satchel charge tk me but that was it. My first attempt at gettting a uniform he walks over and takes it at the last second. Obviously this guy is not out to make friends.
I killed him a third time. He was running at me in an enemy uniform, with apparently no hit points left because he dies in one shot. Guess what? That’s right, he complains

So I’m really pissed now. I decide I’m gonna do the old shoot him in the back when he’s not looking. I’m not paying attention to the game anymore. First respawn BAM! somone else shoots him in the back of the head with a pistol. Apparently we had been formulating the same plan.

After a few times of shooting him at the respawn, he figures out it’s me. Probably because I started a kick vote for him earlier. He decides he wants to shoot me at resapwn as well.
Then I finally get a little smarter. I switch to medic. I decide I’ll shoot him. Then if he shoots me I can heal myself. EUREKA!
On the next map I leave him alone at the begining. I’m the only medic on the team. 3 people, including him, get airstriked. I revive 2 of them and stare at his body while he screams for a medic. I decide to use my knife to try to revive him. Well he just loses it after that. He starts going for me openly. I just watch him mow me down. After a few times he gets booted.

Yay!

The point? Complaints don’t work. Experience whores like this prove it.
I was doing good. I didn’t TK a lot. Got a lot of kills. Gave out loads of ammo.
This is team game if you are covert ops expect to get tk’ed. If you like to get in close with the enemy expect to get tk’ed. It’s part of the game.
I don’t feel bad, he was a douche bag contributing nothing to the team. If anything he was hurting it. Don’t think I do this evertime someone wants to complain. I have never and probably will never do that again.

Exceptions , of course, would be clan games and ff = off games.

bah, that’s nothing.

i’ve had engineers tk me because i was building stuff and they wanted the XP for themselves.

try building mg42 nest, they put a rifle grenade up your ass.

try building a command post, they unload a whole smg clip into your head.

try building a bridge, they knife you in the back.

XP seems to bring out the worst in many players.

I had something similar on oasis. I took the flag and planted at the wall (I usually ignore the first water pump and go directly for the command post and then the flag). Then I began to build the water pump. I was mid in it, as another engineer came and finished it, getting all the points. OK that happens. But the next thing he did was is defusing my dyno at the wall and planting his own. So I asked him with global chat what he is doing (I saw him defusing: I knew his name) - no answer. My next action was to start a vote to kick him and he played the inocent, asking why I want to boot him. But I was lucky and there were some keen players around and he got kicked in an instant (and he didnt reconnect).

Less insidious but equally annoying are those players who put one shot in a teammates back at spawn. I dont know why people do this, I really am tempted to mow them down for such a blatant lack of manners.

Snowman, you shld join servers w/ players you know on em. I play on quakeshit alot, UR Sux plays there alot too. Well hammer any llama who does stupid shit like that.

I suspect that this is sometimes due to a pressing of the fire button right before respawn that gets cached…
I’ve seen it after the warmup when everyone was spaming TK’s. (I always stop shooting with like 2 seconds left to prevent this, actually I usually try to get out of the spawn too… but thats an aside)

During a match it might have been a switching teammates POV, which is done with the fire key…

Of course, I’m sure there are some jerks who think shooting someone in the head is cool :disgust: and worse knocking off his helmet! :chef: :angry: (see the first guy has a hat, then he is mad!)

i would have complained against the airstrikes, and if you tk’ed me to “teach me a lesson” (what lesson?) the events probably would have unfolded in a similar fashion. you airstriked him on a pub, its his RIGHT to complain. unless the admin is around, your just gonna have to tolerate that stuff on some servers.

This has been discussed before but complaining about accidental death is different from hitting F1. F1 is for T/K-ing. And unless the Airstrike is tossed inside of a defensive area (ie axis on top rocks at sea wall) then its hardly team killing (which this wasn’t).

While Im on this topic:
WTF is with people throwing airstrikes right in front of the 1st tug on axis side? :disgust: I mean you know we have to ride that forward… Right? one noob kept doing that last night… pissed me off… but I let it slide… :disgust:

Why? don’t you ever play Lt? Sometimes it’s others peoples fault for getting tk’ed. I.e. running into airstrikes.

being tk’ed is an occupational hazard if you’re a covert ops.

if you can’t suck it up and accept the fact that you are likely to be tk’ed by teammates if you’re near them, than play something else cuz you ain’t helping the team and only pissing ppl off.

many times when a covert is tk’ed is cuz they usually have a heated fight prior to getting the pants, so they are usually low on health.

but i do file on ppl who kill me as a covert if they like unload an entire magazine in me. I mean, 5 shots, sure i’ll understand that, but it takes over 6 seconds to unload an entire magazine and if you can’t see the “don’t shoot” sign by then, you need your eyes checked.

It’s his right to decide if he should complain or not. The question pops up on his screen, and his screen alone. It’s not a vote.

Well go nuts, but its more fun to shrug off the complaint and keep playing. I know from experience

Well, I would have complained, if the admin was around you could have tried to get me kick/banned. I would have plead my case and said it was not an accident and that you saw me before you threw the airstrike or you were spawn camping or something like that… What’s so hard to understand about that?

The lesson is don’t complain against every single TK.

I think the lesson is pub airstrikes work a bit different than match airstrikes. spawn camping w/ airstrike’s on pubs is a kickable offence on some servers you know…

He shouldn’t have complained, and you should not have over-reacted. Did your team win that round? I doubt it. Sounds like you were having too many internal squabbles.

So, tell me again, who lost focus and stopped contributing to the team? Who was CvOps at enemy spawn?

I think you were both behaving badly, and why not? It’s just a game. Maybe he doesn’t always act so crazy, too.

Ill only complain, and loudly, when I see Lt throw an AS before he looks to see if his teammates are mixin it up w/ enemy.

Look before you shoot. Ive seen this dozens of times a game. Players throwin AS on train when there is a melee around it. ARGH.

Air strikes and arty are better for interdicitng then for clearing enemy from an objective. Deny them access and let your teammates clear the area w/ smgs etc. Ive seen Lts use interdicing fire great, and Ive seen those that spam objectives and TK indiscrimantly. Ill stop playing and chew teammates out for that sort of thing, I even saw a teammate plant dyna on our own spawn flag !!! chewed him out, and he mercifully defused it and I graciously thanked him for disarming it. : )
