Resolution problems

Hi,

this is my first post here so be nice… :slight_smile:

I have a very disturbing problem, I wanna play ET in 1024 or 1280, but it always end up in 800*600. I have tried all r_mode:s and custom height and so on. The interisting thing is that the only thing that changes when I try different modes is the command-window! I’ve reinstalled the game and so on… This problem began when I installed a different gfx-card a creative fx 5900. It seems when I start the game starts in the right resolution but then it changes back within 1 second.

I’ve tried to write a bat file to delete pids and deleted the unsafe efter r_mode in the etconfig. The vid_restart isn’t working. It says 1280 in the menu settings. And r_mode is set to 8 when I control it in the et_command window, but the display is still 800! My graphic card is fx 5900 and i have the latest nvidia drivers, it worked with my old card a fx 5200. I got this from a friend:
seta r_customWidth “1280”
seta r_customHeight “1024”
seta r_mode “-1”
seta vid_restart
but it didn’t work either.
Man this problem is eating me up!

other system specs:
amd 2400+
512 ram
160 gb
19’ Hansol monitor
Win xp home

vid_restart does not go in the config, it is a command and hsould only be put in the console by hand

and i dont understand what you ae reffering to when you say command window

are you updating your profile .cfg too?

Old, well known problem, there’s been a couple of threads on it this is the 1st I found:-

are you sure your got the batch file working properly? and have u got an autoexec.cfg file with your required video settings and stuff in (just to be sure :???: )

I’ve read that thread and tested all that was suggested there before, I got the batch thing from that one. Command-window= console, sorry if I was unclear. I’ve edit all the different profile cfg:s and etconfigs. And yes I have an autoexec file where all my video settings in it… r_mode and so on…
It’s a realy weird problem, I suspect it has something to do with my new graphic card since it worked before.

now I’m beginning to suspect that maybe it’s a forceware problem, but I haven’t find any overrules yet, any ideas?

customheight / width only work when using r_fullscreen 0… iirc.
