Requested features for final release

I may have just not noticed that it was there but I’m hoping the final game has a hit marker when shooting enemies like in Battlefield and Call Of Duty games. It adds a lot to the feeling of shooting enemies and I like the feedback.

Also, I’m hoping for the option of a really fast turning speed like in COD. It should be the default nowadays but a lot of developers still don’t provide an option for a fast looking camera. I like to play on a sensitivity of 9 in COD and can’t touch a game with anything less.

9 is just a number - it is not a standard degree of sensitivity across all games. A 9 in one game, may be like a 6 in another.

Blood and screaming is a much more natural feedback, and Brink provides that, and hitsounds on top of it.

(Exedore) #4

Brink will have both.

(H0RSE) #5

both what? Blood & screaming, or blood/screaming & hitsounds?

(tokamak) #6

hit sounds and a visual cue of the hit in the crosshair.

SDquotes.org might start on this one

I think he’s maybe referring to the console version, where there’s only a limited number of sensitivity options… and CoD bizarrely is one of the few games that has quite a good degree of options… some only slow, medium and fast. Obviously PC players will have the sensitivity command to make use off.

oh, so now that this is the request thread im trying my luck:

Is there really just one deathanimation?!
I noticed that in ‘A choir of guns’ trailer.
The people fall down always the same.

And why death animations at all?!
Im pretty sad to see them, I would rather see ragdoll physics.
Even if you add way more death animations, they will never be as good looking as ragdolls, it’s just frustrating to see someone die of off a explosion just to see the guy falling to the ground doing a completely inappropriate reaction.
That’s why I hate CoD multiplayer.

oh and, I loved the first container city footage.
What we have seen recently all looked a bit more brighter and washed out.
Maybe it’s because of the console footage, dunno, cant describe it properly.

I have seen a recent increase in the number of posts, where people are complaining or concerned with the quality (or lack of) of the death animation, and in response to these posts I would like to say one thing -

Who gives a ****!

Is it really that big of a deal? Doesn’t something like this come down to the capabilities of the idtech4 engine, rather than SD themselves? Perhaps that explains why “guys falling to the ground have a completely inappropriate reaction,” in COD. MW2 runs off the IW 4.0 engine, which is based on an unspecified id Tech engine.

seriously WTF? This game has been in development for a long time and NOW you come with requests?

Where are all these new kids coming from with their (stupid) questions?
They’re coming in waves?

I guess they missed when Wedgwood announced they weren’t adding anything new to the game, months ago.

(DarkangelUK) #13

New is good, new means the word is getting out there and more and more people are interested in the game. A simple “it’s too far in development to implement new features” would suffice rather than a kiddy stomp whinge.

Sorry mon but wat you saw was incapacitated people, waiting for a revive, or peopel who waited for the next spawn. The laying on your back pose is when you taken damage but you could be revived, to help the medic strike the right spot and not poking around to find where your heart is  (something about collisions…bla…bla…).
However, when you are shot by a shotgun at low range, death by a hand grenade, grenade launcher or any heavy wepons, steping on a mine with low health, or if you stay next to the charges, will gonna make you strike a pose in full ragdoll animation over the rainbow.

PS: I would like to thank the community for this H.O.P.E. award… Thank you… Love you all…"<bow to community>"… Thank you!

In a game with a very visual emphasis I’d say it’s no less of a deal that every other cosmetic part of the game. In fact considering killing people is probably going to be a large part of the game I’d say it should warrant more attention than say facial expressions which you are unlikely to notice while playing a game.

In short. The guy has a point.

Except you now throw a revive syringe so don’t need that whole shock paddle animation.

Regarding ragdolls and deaths etc, this is worth a quick watch its some Alpha footage of the Overgrowth game by Wolfire Games.

Also characters have to fall to a prone position in order to be revived. There’s a tactical reason for the animations as well.

Edit: Sorry I see it’s been answered.

(Cankor) #18

(dumb look)…but this one goes to 11.

(Jess Alon) #19

I think what the guy was saying is he wants the spectrum of sensitivity to go from high to so high that tapping your stick a little makes you turn 720 degrees.

(H0RSE) #20

Oh, so he wants a mouse?
