Request : Better "dynamite planted" alert

(Boltman) #1

I don’t know why, but me and my friends finds much harder to notice when a dynamite has been planted on the objective than on regular RtcW.
When the game “warns” “dynamite planted” it sounds so “peacefully” that is much harder to notice, in the middle of a lot of other sounds like danke, hi or I need ammo.

I think once a dynamite is planted, the sound of an alarm should go off, much like the sound there is on mp_beach map when the walls are breached. Maybe the screen could blink red once. It would be very cool, and much more useful.

Also I don’t play on only one server, its pretty much like 10, and not all of them are of the same country. In all of them its pretty easy to get a cvops and a enginner to the axis fort, plant the dynamite and wait the 30 seconds, just to look at the dozens “wtf?” replies in the chat after the match.

the axis “defend the objective” is totally annoying for me. sounds like hes massively stoned or bored… “defaaaaaand the objaaactive”…

the rtcw version sounded a lot more urgent.

(Sacrifice) #3

I agree completely. I also do not always notice that dynomite has been planted at the Fuel Depot.

I like the idea of having a siren sound go off while there is dynomite about to destroy the Fuel Depot.

(Englander) #4

The siren thing would be a bad idea IMO ,I dont think there is a problem the way it is.

(Boltman) #5

Why would it be a bad idea?
RctW was never a “rambo” style game. Having 2 people that can win the game alone on a server with 20+ people contradicts this idea.

(Englander) #6

No1 reason RTCW never had a siren thing on any map i played.

No2 reason if the allies win with just 2 people alone on a 20 player server then its because the Axis team is a very poor one and nothing to do with it being a rambo style game.

(FallenMatt) #7

i think the problem is that sometimes the “dynamite planted” sound NEVER gets played.

I’ve seen it few times when the dynamite gets planted and somebody shouts somethign at the same time, the completly unimportant sounds gets played but the dynamite planted stuff gets just printed to the screen, no sound…

i would think that’s a bug with sound queing when unimportant stuff bumps out the critical messages (who can even keep up with those tiny messages on the bottom of the screen ???, in RTCW the dynamite planted gets printed in big letters right in the center of the view so you know the dynamite got planted even if you would miss the audio annoucement.

that brings up another issue of stuff like “all planes are in route now” being queued and played EVERY time, really annoying (i hit airstrike 20 times and i hear that message 20 times for the next 20 seconds)

I think the only reason you don’t care is that you play mostly allies with a friend and keep doing this over and over.

You can’t choose where you respawn in that map and almost no one on pub servers will leave their precious camping positions because someone they don’t know says the dynamite has been planted, but they didn’t listen the announcer, while they can just stay there a little more time and frag 1 or 2 times before the game ends.

Also if THERE IS an announcement that the dynamite has been planted IT SHOULD AT LEAST BE NOTICEABLE. :bash: Not something you can mistake for a danke or fire in the hole :P. If a good number of players don’t notice it, then there must be a problem with it. But of course you don’t care, you exploit it, why should it be fixed?

I don’t play mostly axis either, I always try to enter the team that lost last match.

(Englander) #9

Well the fact is Boltman i play on the team what as a space to join ,wether that is Axis or Allies i dont really care, infact over the last 3 days the only team i have played is Axis and have won 75% of the games played in that 3 day period.

But if i did plant as an Allie on the dump over and over again like you claim, i would quickly become very bored of the weakness of the Axis team and leave to find a server were the Axis knows how to actually play the game, because the fact is if you are planting with just a 2 man team that easily, its the Axis team what is at fault not the game.

The fact remains that the siren idea is not needed IMO but a careful watch on the dump is,when iam Axis i always play engineer and have never had a problem knowing when TNT as been planted on the dump.
Putting a siren on to alert you the instant an Allie as planted would be taking some of the gameplay away from it IMO.
Isnt a written warning with an icon of TNT next to it enough not to mention the vocal warning aswell, obviously there is a bit of problem with the vocal warning sometimes but i put that down to it being the test version.

Overall if your an Axis engineer all you need to do is keep a good eye on the dump ,plus with the warnings you alreardy have in the game its fine the way it is and always as been.

(Boltman) #10

So, what you are saying is I should camp the dump the entire game after the tank has blasted the first entrance, or have a hawks eye to notice the pathetic small text with a tnt icon while I’m trying to dodge bullets people shoot at me?

The only way to notice that tiny “unimportant” text on the left side of the screen that goes away quickly as people start killing each other is to do absolutely nothing, or camp. And I don’t like camping. If only the axis could choose where to spawn, then maybe the siren wasnt needed at all. Building fortification around the dump does not help, all you need is the already there cvops charge to blow the doors. If you are defending the tank, you can’t reach the dump in time to defuse the dynamite. So, the only thing left to do is camp the dump. How exciting!

(Englander) #11

LOL the Axis can choose were to spawn, start learning the game fully before complaining about it.

All i can say is when iam Axis i never have a problem knowing when someone as planted.wether iam near the dump or not.

And your earlier comment of “I think the only reason you don’t care is that you play mostly allies with a friend and keep doing this over and over” was purely the most pathetic way of trying to win a point ive heard in my life.

(Boltman) #12

Maybe thats because you don’t have a life. You are too busy playing games for one.

Oh sorry gaming is also a way of life in your opinion… thats too bad.

(Englander) #13

Poor Boltman who likes taking his own threads way off topic and seems to know everything about other people without even knowing them.
Why are you wasting your time here and playing ET ,you could make a fortune with your abilities.

I suggest you dont post anymore threads ,you only seem to respond well to the people who agree with you.
And the ones who disagree with you all of a sudden dont have a life (it took me about 5 mins to find out that axis could choose their spawn place)or dont want things changing in ET because they only play Allies and like how easy it is to win,oh and lets not forget about how he knows gaming is a way of life for me aswell.

Oh well that really made me change my mind Boltman ,you really know how to get your points across.

My only addition to this that i think would be good if the message of “Dyno Planted at Fule Dump” was in the middle of the screen like it is in RTCW.

Boltman if your play is as bad as the way you reply to someone who disagrees with you no wonder you want the game made easier.

I think you need a couple of years in a white rubber room.

My last post in this thread ,so go ahead Boltman say what you like cos iam not gonna reply to your childish answers no more

Bringing this topic back on subject i agree with Englander if the axis are not tactical minded enough to keep at least 2 ppl behind to ensure the safety of the dump then the axis deserve what they get.

The map is all about good offense while also keeping defence in mind. Boltyman it sounds to me you like to play deathmatch style games and not too keen on the teamwork element.

You say its not fun camping in the dump, but i find it essential when i play axis. I enjoy setting up all the defences and planting mines. Though I enjoy more catching the covert ops and engineer trying to sneak in and even if they get me i have a good chance of still gettiing them since I set my spawn at the base.

As for the beach map plenty of ppl enjoyed camping in the war room and still do.

As for the dynamite I have always noticed it. I do agree though that the sound does cut out rarely, but im sure this is because its just a test.

(damocles) #15

I’ll tell you why you don’t notice it anymore - there is no warning message. In RTCW a big warning message like “DYNAMITE PLANTED AT THE SOUTH RADAR” is displayed for several seconds right in the lower middle of the screen. Now the messages are in with all the death messages and they just get ignored because you have more important things to do than read every pifling message that comes through.

Bring back the on screen alert!!!

And I also agree that the dynamite planted sounds are too weedy. And they often get overridden.

(DG) #16

Assault plays a siren when the garage door is blown, works pretty well imo.

You can set your respawn, click on the flag in the limbo screen.

There is a problem with sounds, i only seem to here one voice at a atime - i probably hear about half the voices or objective announcements in a busy server. many many other people have mentioned it here and elsewhere.

(Dragon) #17

Agreed about the notifications. Make em more…Noticable

As for setting up the Axis Defence, it isn’t hard to change spawn points to spawn at the depot, build the gates, lay some mines strategically, then go and camp the river tunnel entrance…you get plenty of action there, and, if you’ve placed your landmines properly, you’ll collect anyone that gets past you.

Landmines are Winners!!!

(Shiznit) #18

perfect solution
when dynamite is armed out in big letters acrros every players screen DYNAMITE PLANTED
then every1 will c it
(i hate nOObs that build the fence instead of disarming dynamites ARGH!!!   :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :bash: :bash: :bash: )

I think once a dynamite is planted, the sound of an alarm should go off, much like the sound there is on mp_beach map when the walls are breached. Maybe the screen could blink red once. It would be very cool, and much more useful

Some sort of ticker/counter could help provide more info.

(ND80) #20

How about your computer giving you an electric shock that would alert you to pay attention to the game?
