it would most likely depend on what youre actually looking for; e.g. prices and avilability usually varies according to:
- number of players,
- option for public or not,
- international or ukonly,
- voice comms hosting,
- minimum contract: seen 1 month, 3 month, 6 month and 12month! but also longer you will pay for the less per month they charge… but is your clan reliable enough?
- method of admin access (ftp, telnet, vnc, etc),
- desired rate settings (some will allow only sv_maxrate 10000, some 13000, some 25000…),
- some offer various mathods for your clan to arrange payments - some require someone to pay up the lot and sort it yourselves, etc…
Basically it means most likely you will have to go to the page, select your options and see what it comes up with. Forums and IRC etc can be particularily useful for getting views on how good the service is though - frequency of server issues, customer service/speed of response etc. (just beware people tend to be more into posting, sometimes fairly sometimes not, about a experience of crap service, of if they are sponsored - things tend to be great when theyre free).
etpro and extra maps, pretty much anywhere will let you do this but you might either be able to FTP them up yourself, or have to get them to do it for you (painful if you change maps often). also beware server farms typically run multiple gameservers from the one machine+install (this is normal, as dedicated servers cost FAR more), which means e.g. custom campaign bug might be a major problem.
some places to look, cant vouch for any of their quality, bracketed info just taken from their sites:
jolt.co.uk (approx £55/m for 20player public; 13kps public 25kps private)
www.uber1337.co.uk (£55/m for 20player - presumed public?; 10kps?)
http://www.fpsclanservers.net/ (pricing page didnt work, public “under review”)
www.netplayuk.com (aka mgamers) (£60/m for 20player public, “Max Rate 7500” which i presume is wrong)
